Now is the Time

Hello Lovelies,
reading Annette's POST yesterday I had to smile. Her words summed up how I feel at the moment. Now is the time we have been waiting for through the short, cold winter days.

All these photos were taken yesterday.......a beautifully sunny May day.

Now is the time to get up early and be greeted by clear skies and birdsong when you have a little wander around the garden before breakfast. There was frost on the grass and the strawberry plants........possibly the last one till the Autumn?..............

Now it the time to notice morning sunlight flooding my kitchen now the sun is rising further along the horizon........

Now is the time to give my kitchen window a good clean as the sunlight shows up previously unnoticed dirt...........

Loving these supermarket Carnations.........I'm a sucker for Cerise............

But mainly now is the time to get out and make the most of May, when mother nature is so fresh and beautiful.........

Another trip to the Bluebell woods , still not masses of flowers, but oh what a gorgeous place to wander through the dappled sunlight............

Right now I feel extra glad to be alive......It's a special time of year for sure.
I'm making the most of it before it's gone.

Out and About Again

Hello lovelies,
we were blessed with yet another sunny evening yesterday and I grasped the chance of another short walk after work with Eldest ( I do ask his brothers too, but they are sadly not keen on walking at the moment )
We head out down the street.........

Past cats waiting to be let in...........

And soon come to the sheep field with it's cute spring residents.......

The Cherry Blossom is already beginning to fall........

And the Clematis Montana is just coming into flower......

We walk our usual route, past glimpses of pretty gardens..........

And glimpses of Bunnies too..........

It's actually rather chilly, but the world is just so pretty at the moment it seems a shame to stay inside and miss these fleeting beauties.........

The Horse Chestnut trees are just stunning.........

And in the Churchyard we find a clump of Wild Garlic..........

And oh the Bluebells...........

Oh the Bluebells.........

The setting sun makes red bricks and tiles glow.........

And the horse, safely in his stable for the night, looks like he is saying "it's too early to go the bed"..........

May is my favourite month and it's lovely to see the May ( Hawthorn Blossom ) is out........

Guess I can cast a clout now :0)

The yellow fields are truly golden...........

And the highland Cattle have a new calf that we haven't seen before.........

Now we are nearly home, heading towards the sun...........

We are both surprised by this mass of dandelion clocks glowing in the evening light.........

They really looked like they had light bulbs in them............

Then we spot a Hare........not a great photo .........those things are fast.........

This companionable walk was such a tonic at the end of a busy day.

and now we have a three day Bank Holiday weekend to enjoy......lovely.
I hope your weekend is a happy one.

Evening Walks

Hello Lovelies,
I find it such a joy now the days are long and darkness doesn't fall until after 9pm.
On Sunday we took advantage of the beautiful evening and had a family stroll by the water. This is a spot where the canal meets the river.

We walked beside the canal then past the lock and the lock keepers cottage...........

then along the riverbank.........

Stopping to watch this chap put his canoe in the water and paddle off...........

Middle son spotted the Robin with a grub in his beak , and kindly hushed everybody until I had got a photo.......

I do love the blue Cornflowers in the background too.

There's always plenty to see along this riverside path. In the corner of the boat yard an old roller is quietly rusting away..........

And, happily a lovely narrow boat is being restored..........

There are a real mix of water-born crafts moored here.........

Including some really odd sights..........

The boys thought that landing craft was great..........I was just fascinated by all the boaty paraphernalia......

After a while we turned around and wandered back towards the canal. The evening light was lovely, perfect weather to wander by the water.........

Back past the lock........

and back along the canal-side.........

I do have a soft spot for narrow boats, particularly ones painted in traditional colours.........

Or with cute names........

we wondered if this boat was named after two grandmothers.

These next photos were taken on Monday evening. I had been at work and was feeling pretty tired. I knew if I sat down I'd probably nod off, so to avoid that Eldest and I went for a short walk.

Just up the road to my usual footpath...........

Everywhere is so green now and the paths feel very hemmed in in places. This stile is disappearing into the foliage...........

It was warm and calm . The evening light made these Highland Cattle look even redder than usual............

And I was lucky enough to get this sweet shot of a little wild bunny..........

It was the sun shining through his ears that I noticed first.

The Maple trees are suddenly full of leaves.............

Here's a picture I took on these two trees on the 5th of April for comparison..........

And what pretty leaves they are..............

It really was a gorgeous evening and felt more like summer than spring...........

We headed back out onto the street...........

and listened to Mr Blackbird singing on the T.V. aerial.........

On the way home my tiredness had gone and I was so glad to have been able to enjoy another simple but special time with my eldest....he talks , I listen...............

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments on my latest blanket..........I'm currently pondering my next big hooky project......so many possibilities.
