Playing with Yarn

Hello Lovelies ,
Firstly I need to say that this isn't my wrist warmer tutorial, but I have Nearly finished it and I'm planning to publish it first thing tomorrow, so do pop back then wont you.

In the mean time here is a quick post about a little project I've been amusing myself with.

I wonder if you can guess from these two balls of yarn what I was attempting to make on Sunday afternoon..........

There are so many lovely things in this image but it's the sweet little Snowdrops that are popping up everywhere at the moment that I've been attempting to recreate in yarn. This is a photo I took just this morning on a sunny walk...........

And here's my yarny snowdrops...........

I didn't plan to make up my own , first I found THIS pattern which I loved. It's beautifully written with pictures and everything.
But I'm afraid, after a lot of struggle with the whole "chainless foundation" method it used, I gave up and came up with my own design.
 It's certainly not perfect but these cute little crochet flowers still make me happy........

They sat on top of my sketch book for a couple of days while I pondered what to do with them. Initially I thought I would tie them with some gingham ribbon and wear then as a brooch, but then I had another idea.

This photo was taken in my favourite charity shop on Wednesday. I love these messy shelves of miscellaneous unloved things and they did not disappoint...........

Of the princely sum of 49p I picked up this tiny vase....a perfect snowdrop size...........

 I know it's a bit chipped but that doesn't bother me

But how would I get my floppy stemmed flowers to stand up in it........
Another brainwave happened..........I threaded a cocktail stick up the stem.........

And Ta-dah..........

I little vase of crochet Snowdrops is mine...........

The plan is fro them to go on my Welsh dresser when I do my "Spring Shelves" , but for now they are sitting by my bed and making me smile............
