Indian Summer Days

Hello Lovelies,
well, if the forecast is correct we are set to enjoy a warm sunny week with temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius from Wednesday. Pretty wonderful for the end of September.....Today has been lovely and sunny in these parts and I'm enjoying the blue sky and bright sunshine. It helps compensate for the ever shortening days.

In the garden this pretty plant (whose name escapes me at the moment) is having a second burst......

My sedum is looking at it's best ....

And the Violas I've planted for some winter colour are looking so happy.....

Just last week I really noticed the trees beginning to turn, just as the Autumn equinox arrived.........

Out neighbours elder is laden with berries........

And the hedgerows and awash with them too...

Yes. I'm going to try and get out and soak in the wonderful Autumn colours as much as possible this week .

I'll be saving my crochet for the darkening evenings. My latest Giant granny is almost finished. This row ( row 52) caused my to sweat a bit....all the way round I was worried the red yarn would run out and I haven't got any more. But luckily it just lasted with a small amount to spare :0) ..........

Lucky me !
At this stage each round takes almost an hour to do. I'm planning to stop at round 56 so not too long to another Ta-dah .
Hope the weather is kind where you are .
Don't forget to enter my giveaway HERE if you haven't yet .
Have a great week.

  2. What beautiful flower photography. And the one that your granny blanket photo is placed with these pictures really highlights the beauty of bold colors in the blanket!

  3. Your prickly blue beauty is a borage - the bees love them and I love the way the flowers turn pink when you drop them into your drink x

  4. Hi Jacquie
I'm loving all the autumnal colours too and soaking up the warm before the storm! I really can appreciate those panic sweaty moments whenyou think you won't have enough yarn at the end!! Happy week ahead for you xox

  5. I LOVE it when I have just enough yarn! But, those beads of sweat that precede that good feeling are the pits! LOL And I happen to LOVE your granny blanket. One hour per row...isn't it funny how we measure that? We've been doing the same stitch over and over and over again...but it's so much more satisfying to have those small victories called rounds/rows! Hugs, Annette

  6. Beautiful Autumn pictures Jacquie. I love those little jolly violas just ready to brighten up the dark months, I really must get some (left it too late to grow them from seed). Our elderberries are all but done here we made the most delicious apple and elderberry jelly turns out a gorgeous deep ruby colour and tastes divine! Autumn has some advantages doesn't it!

  16. Yup - it's borage. And thank you for mentioning elder, because we have a couple of those on our property and I didn't know what they were. Your granny blanket looks beautiful. I can't wait to see it, as I've been thinking about making one. Once I finish my two afghans that I've already started!

  27. We've got a lot of blue and white borages here, just like the one in your first picture. Lovely flowers, lots of bees, and you can eat them in salads(the flowers, not the bees)
My grandma used to cook a tasty soup with the leaves (but I don't know the recipe), and we still eat the stalks as boiled vegetables, with some potatos and just a trickle of olive oil. Of course, you have to clean the stalks before cooking, with gloves and a clean scrubber. They are very prickley!!! But sooooo delicious...
