Hello Lovelies,
thank you for all your kind comments on my recent posts. I'm so happy to see some more of you joining in with Jen's wonderful project. Anything that helps to focus my mind on happy, positive moments has got to be a good thing. Especially in a busy, back to school week.
So here goes with my second post celebrating the joy in small things
( no mosaic this time :0) )
1. Mr BM putting my bird box up in our Silver Birch tree, keeping my fingers crossed it's useful for a birdy family........
2. My new calendars' January picture. A perfectly pretty snowy image. This calendar is also my running "diary" , where I record all my runs. I hardly did any in December so it makes me happy to see three, admittedly shortish, runs already this month..........
3. Baking Apple pie with my eldest at the weekend. He has always loved cooking and was bought this pie dish with Blackbird steam vent for Christmas....reminds me of my own childhood.........
4. Getting an extra long lunch break on a study day yesterday. There was even time to go for a walk in the park and enjoy the sunshine. We came across this funny looking Duck , which I've since found out is an Egyptian Goose ........
I haven't come across this breed before.

I think all your wonderful photographs throughout the year would makes a fabby calender...its good to focus on those really lovely, simple things to cheer ones day...you sure cheer mine x

DeleteThat pie looks perfet for cheering one up on these dreary grey January days Jacquie, I love thos black birds too. Alice was given one by one of her granny's a couple of years ago and seeing your eldest's one has reminded me that we must get hers out and bake a pie. Look forward to hearing if a little family of the winged variety come and nest in that sweet box.

I love your happy moments! Good job with the running, never mind that they were short, you're getting out there and doing it! My husband is a runner and he's been getting back to it this week after the holidays too. I love the pie bird, I have always wanted one.
ReplyDeleteI have that exact same blackbird steam vent and I love to use it. The pie looks so good. Well done on the running. I run but have not been since my last race in November...bad me. I really need to get back into it!

ReplyDeleteGood luck with the bird box. Mine wasn't used the first year but since then they have both had regular families of blue tits or great tits nesting in them 4 years now I think.
ReplyDeleteIt is always something to be grateful for, and I think it's better to keep focused on what makes you happy than what makes you worry or upset.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if egyptian geese like going around on their own? I saw one up at Chew Valley Lake in Somerset. There are heaps (sometimes literally) of swans, ducks and canada geese there but only the one egyptian goose.
