Hello Lovelies,
yesterday I finally got chance to go for a proper snowy walk. I decided against trying to run in the slippery conditions, but wanted to get out and explore the wintry wonderland we are enjoying in the U.K. at the moment.
I know blog-land is full of snowy posts right now but I really love the Narnia like landscape and wanted to record my thoughts here, so that's what I'm doing :0)
After I dropped the boys at school I headed out , just me and my little camera. Along the road I like to cycle in summer........
At the start of this walk I was wishing the sun was shining........ the sky and the land were a very similar colour as I wandered down this footpath yesterday.
But if your really slowed down enough to notice your surroundings , there was beautiful, vivid colour to be found........
And after a while I thought , hang on a minute , it's just stunning, with or without the sun.......
The snow was crunchy underfoot and I was happy to get away from the traffic.........The air was still and, bundled up in lots of layers, I didn't feel cold at all, just really alive as the cold air nipped at my cheeks.
Away from the main path a little bridge leads into a farmers field......
The natural pond in this field was frozen......
I loved looking at ( and smelling ) this hay barn. Little birds were hopping about on top of the bales......
There was some more colour in the form of this old tractor........
and I like taking pictures of field gates.......
and rustic fences :0)..........
But mostly I just loved the chance to reconnect with nature, and appreciate the beauty of the winter landscape.........
It was just an hour out of a busy day , but in a part of the world where we don't get that much snow , it seemed very special.

P.S. Thank you so much for all the crochet owl love....I'm stunned at the number of comments , but it's the most wonderful thanks for all the concentration and checking .....thank you so much :0)
Beautiful pictures :) Kind regards Janny

Brrr!! It's making me feel chilly just looking at your beautiful pictures, Jacquie! We've only had a little snow that lasted less than a day, we seem to be very much in the minority compared with the rest of the country ... it's amazing how different the landscape looks in different seasons, you've captured that perfectly, very atmospheric, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKeep warm,
Claire xxx
Yes, "stunning with or without the sun"! I enjoy the joys of each season too and do not envy anyone living in constant sun! I enjoyed this walk with you!
ReplyDeletelooks cold, and its lovely to look at and making me feel cool when its so hot here! stunning scenery coated with a layer of snow! gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGreat walk!
ReplyDeleteHello Jacquie
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your magical photos with us. They are truly beautiful and show our countryside is stunning in any season. This morning I managed to go out for my first run in ages and it was so good and exhilarating.

Beautiful photos Jacquie!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I love the magic of any season. I am from Catalonia in Spain, and I know that many people thinks hot weather, but not at all, winters in north Spain are really cold, wet, and grey. And yes is nice living in a place where you can enjoy the beauty of any season.
Thanks for sharing :)

Beautiful pictures. Probably the last day we will be seeing the snow here as it's due to melt this weekend. Fingers crossed the rain doesn't cause too many flooding problems.
ReplyDeleteYour scenery look very similar to my views!
Have a good weekend.

How beautiful Jacquie! I love the idea of 'real' seasons too. I don't get them where I live either. In winter we don't get snow, although it certainly can get cold in my neck of the woods. Summers can be very hot, but mostly are hot mixed with warm and we can get cool nights in comparison to other parts of the country.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, we have bushfires in the east, about 120 miles or so away (closer as the crow flies), and have had two less than 10 miles away in the past month. Scary stuff.
Stay warm and enjoy the warmth of your fireplace.
Hi, I have just recently got into the whole blogging world and love to check our your blog. I love your tutorials and you have inspired me to experiment - love the owl tutorial! I've nominated you for the Versatile Blogger award and hope you feel able to accept it. You can check out your nomination at http://toadstooltales.wordpress.com. Thanks for providing me with loads of inspiration. Emma x
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your lovely snowy walk with us. Sounds like you had a great time all to yourself. :-). We can never have enough snow pictures. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous walk ... you can't beat getting out into the Countryside and exploring!! I had to giggle when you were able to work out where that path went thanks to the footprints in the snow!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI've just stumbled across your blog and will now stumble across to follow! Your photos of the stunning landscape are lovely and your pattern for the owls are brilliant. Will have a go. Take care. Chel x
ReplyDeleteI am still marveling about my owl...have started on his brothers!! I have decided to start a "Chirstmas Box" As I make things throughout the year or "who ever" in my Christmas box it goes. I hope to have several of the owls. Even my husband thought he was cute. I hung (is that correct english?) from a plant. Thanks again. I wonder if there is a way to make a cat face??? Played with it this morning before coming into work, am trying to figure out the ears.
ReplyDeleteHave a JOYful weekend!!!
the snow makes the colour that is there really stand out doesn't it, and your owls are just great! Heather x
ReplyDeleteSo lovely, we've not had as much snow here in Manchester but I made sure to go and get out in it properly and went out into the hills last weekend. I'm still sort of hoping we'll get more snow soon!

We've had thick snow for two weeks now and it's snowing heavily as I type but I have so enjoyed it! I've done several snowy posts in the last couple of weeks as like you, I love the winter landscapes, the invigoration cold and proper seasons, and the views around here are stunning so there was lots to photograph!!
ReplyDeleteHi!! Thank you for sharing such lovely pictures from your walk!! I felt like I was walking right along with you. I love the snow, and this time of the year. We are having lots of rain today, and the perfect day to crochet! Have a great evening!!
ReplyDeleteI get quite excited when you post something new. I just sit back and enjoy the photos.
ReplyDeleteJacquie, I am so glad that you donned all those warming layers and set out (with the camera!) for that snowy walk. All that you saw is exactly what this city dweller would have noticed if I'd been lucky enough to be along for that walk.
ReplyDeleteYes, so many beautiful colors reveal themselves in varying light, and it's fun to take a walk past familiar sights and see them transformed. Those old gates are beautiful.
Hoping that you got home not totally chilled, but rather happy to have been outdoors...and them warmed up with a cup of something soothing.
We have a very light snow falling here in NYC tonight, though if it only reaches an inch, it will soon be gone tomorrow morning. No chance to seeing sights as beautiful as yours. xo
I live in Andalusian, the South of Spain in a little town where it's impossible to see the snow unless you drive for two hours. So I love your snowy pictures. I love the snow maybe because I usually don't have it but I think it's always marvellous to see.
ReplyDeletelooks like a lovely walk, seem to have had no time at all to get out and walk lately, enjoyed seeing the snowy scenes via your pics! x

Gorgeous photos - I have not tired of seeing snowy shots yet, the snow is still a novelty to me! Anyway, it's all melted here now and your pictures are much prettier than all the brown and grey I'm seeing outside my window.

There's nothing like a good walk on a cold winter's day, and you had plenty interesting things to see. I love the bright green moss and lichen on the tree.
ReplyDeleteJust now saw this blog! Thanks so much for sharing! I love your beautiful country & would love to visit there some day. I am from Texas & always enjoy the seasons, but snow is the best!!
