Hello Lovelies,
oh I'm so happy to have one of my drawings to share with you sweet people this week, it's been a while hasn't it.
I have been enjoying sketching since my last blogged picture and if you are not familiar with this relatively new hobby of mine you can see all my previous pictures by clicking HERE.
A few of you have mentioned that you missed my drawings, which was lovely to hear. The truth is I've missed them too , but I haven't had much time to actually sit down and draw...plus there is always yarn to tempt me. I wonder how people can ever be bored....my head is always full of things I want to make and do.
Anyway, back to my latest drawing. Once again I've been inspired by walking in the countryside, as I was in my first drawing back in February. But now it is Summer.....Oh Summer in the countryside , how I LOVE it. The flowers and warmth. The green fields and blue skys ( some days :0) ) The birdsong and buzz of bees , the butterflies and the tall grasses. I find it really makes me happy to get out and enjoy the seasons, and summer, like spring, is especially easy to enjoy.
The picture I've come up with is a combination of images you will probably already be familiar with.
This picture was taken on a walk last week, and blogged about HERE.........
This picture was taken on a family bike ride the week before and blogged about HERE...........
Here is a quick pencil sketch I did when inspiration struck...........
I then drew this in my A4 sketch book, again in pencil, before going over the plants in the foreground in fine pen.........
Then it was time for colouring in. Once again I've stuck with my favourite medium.....coloured pencil
I love a bit of colouring in. It's a gentle, relaxing pastime.
Here is the finished picture..........
You can click on the images to make them bigger.
I love how this picture has turned out. I think it captures the countryside where I live at this moment....
I copied the pretty house directly from my photo because I loved it's white walls and interesting shape.......
of course it was great fun drawing all the flowers......daisies, butter cups and clover..................
I'm happy that it really looks warm and sunny in the picture

Jacquie it's lovely - the one where you have penned in the flowers would make a lovely pattern design. And I know where Tom Tit is - sitting on a beach enjoying an ice cream - it is Summer after all! Jane x

ReplyDeleteI love your new picture of the countryside around where you live! So nice to have the wild flowers in the foreground too. The bees are a lovely addition and have replaced Tom Tit while he's on holiday!
ReplyDeletelove your drawings, this is fab and the way you highlighted the flowers with the pen look really great and don't over power they compliment nicely, and your Bee that was really life like,he could be a replacement for Tom Tit maybe?

I just adore the drawings! So much talent and so pretty! You could sell these so easily... :)
ReplyDeleteI really like how you've used the pen for more definition! :) x
ReplyDeleteLovely summer drawing there, Jacquie. I love the wee bee in the buttercups too. I notice that you didnt use the pen to outline the houses in the distance. Lots to learn from your drawings.
ReplyDeleteAs always, you inspire me. I am trying to crochet your toadstool using your patterns from the crochet bowl and baby bunnies.
Thanks.

Yay! Another drawing! I've so missed them, and was delighted to see this post; I appreciate how you've incorporated elements from two different scenes into one. My husband paints watercolors and, for some reason, has trouble with 'artistic license;' he tends to paint exactly what he sees. As for Tom Tit, I'm imagining him on the ground among the flowers - just out of view - hunting his next meal!
ReplyDeleteContinued love and prayers for your Mum's recovery,

It's SO lovely! Am also a BIG FAN of colouring in.

It's wonderful, Jacquie! I think this is your best one yet.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully captured Jacquie, xox Penny
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, I think I can see improvement too since you first started drawing :) The colours are lovely and you've done a great job! I can't draw at all so I'm in no place to comment, but may I make a suggestion? I think this picture would look even better if the things in the foreground had not been outlined in black as I find the black lines a little harsh against the rest of the drawing. It's just a thought anyway, not a criticism by any means.
ReplyDeleteI really like the way the foreground and background balance each other. You've really captured the English summer here. x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning Jacquie! I love the busy bumble bees :o)
ReplyDeleteWow you are so gifted. Love your drawings they are amazing!! Love the humble mr bumble too xoxo
ReplyDeletethis has to be my favourite, how clever you are...i love that view looking through the meadow grass towards the house ;0)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful drawing. So evocative of a summer day. I love the texture of the coloured pencil marks, and the definition around the flowers. The contrast between the flowers and the background gives it real depth. Love your bees too - I can just hear them buzzing! You are so talented. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeletelove the foreground flowers, ali
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful... you are indeed very talented, take care Sam xx

Hi Jacquie,
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I'm only just catching up with your blog now!
I hope your mum is doing ok now, what a worrying time for you all. I really hope she is ok and I'm sending love for you both. I LOVED her beautiful watercolours, my favourites were the first one, and the one with the church against the sky. She's very talented. As are you with your drawings! They're lovely and isn't it nice to discover a new hobby?
Love Heather xxxx
Hi Jacquie, just catching up after my holiday. So sorry to hear about your mum, hope that she is on the mend very soon. Really enjoy your drawings - your end comment about Tom Tit made me chuckle, I had been searching for him! I think perhaps you knew I would be ;)

ReplyDeleteWonderful :)))))))))))

I really like this picture, your sketches look fantastic. I could never do that in a million years. The sketch really comes alive after the fine pen is applied. The flowers really come alive with the burst of color and I love the daisies especially. This really captures the feel of the country.
