Saturday Sunshine

Hell Lovelies,
walking to the shops yesterday I noticed something in the field when I got to the gap in the hedge........

I zoomed in a bit .....ummmmmmm....is it a hare or a lump of mud?

It's hard to see what your camera is taking on it's small screen. I lady who passed asked if I was taking a photo of a hare......"I think so" was all I could reply.........whatever it was was very still........

Back home I can see it is a hare, sleeping it the sunshine.

My errands completed the gorgeous weather tempted me to take the footpaths way home........

I stop to say hello to the donkey who is always here........

Good morning Jacob..........

and wander down the rough track towards the sunshine..........

Here a Robin was perched on a gate post, his red breast glowed in the bright rays........

And the landscape he surveyed looked particularly lovely..........

It may look warm but I was very glad to be wrapped up. I don't think I've shown you my new hat ....time for a selife while nobody is around......it was my BEST Christmas present from a friend at work.  She is pregnant and I gave her my Elmer blanket.

She got a relative to crochet me a hat.........

It's made of black yarn that has a sparkle and it's a sort of beret style. I love it's pretty flower and it fits perfectly.

It's a strange picture of me...my hair is sadly, not so red...but happily I do have eyes.

At my feet I noticed the ice patterns in the frozen puddles..........

I walked along this deserted track, happy in my own company. I do love some time on my own each day............

Just a few sheep to say hello to.............

And the happy sight of emerging Daffodils to make me smile...........

back home it was time to do some house work. Middle sons bedroom is tiny, so there's not much to do in there. I dusted and made his bed........this winter he has been glad of his crochet blanket on the bed....and it makes me very happy to see it there..........

Tidying our bedroom I came across my much loved  Edwardian Lady books, opened up the pages to January and smiled at Edith's BEAUTIFUL hares...........

So much better than my blurry photo...........

These timeless illustrations always make me happy.

I've been doing a little more drawing myself. Inspired by this photo from last weeks group walk........

I loved the way this gorgeous old property sat in the pretty landscape......but the grey weather was not the best.

So I decided to TRY and draw a snowy version........

It was tricky..........

But I still enjoyed the process....drawing by lamplight on a cold winters evening.............

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovelies.

  1. Wow Jacquie - what good eyes you have! I always feel incredibly privileged to see a hare - one of my favourite creatures. Your picture reminds me of a house we use to pass on our journeys through North Yorkshire - whenever the lights were on we used to imagine that it was home to the musical creatures from the Musicians of Bremen - magical! Glad you managed to get out and enjoy the sunshine x Jane

  5. You were lucky to capture that hare in a photo, and the robin one is gorgeous too. Your drawing is very good, a real evocation of a snowy scene delicately drawn in wintry colours :)

  6. Lucky you - I've never seen a hare in the wild. Lots of rabbits round here, but not hares. I love the ice patterns of frozen puddles. We go through quite a few each morning on the way to school at the moment. I keep trying to get some photos, but Matt is faster than me and jumps in them to smash the ice! Sometimes 17 is remarkable like 5! x

  7. Love the photo of your hare, I don't get to see them where we live now but used to see them in the fields near our previous home. Your drawing is great too I do wish I could draw

  8. Jealous of your daffodils! We are SO FAR from spring here! And that might be the biggest hare I've ever seen, too! They grow them big there in the UK!

    Enjoy your Sunday! (www.queenbcreativeme.blogspot.com)

  9. We took a mystery photo this weekend as well, thinking it was an owl in a far away tree...turned out to be a cluster of dried leaves. lol Your bunny was lovely even if blurry. I love the "doodling" of nature found in ice. Your hat is lovely. My girls are wanting a new winter hat. I've been trying out this trellis stitch, have you seen it? http://makemydaycreative.com/2014/08/21/diamond-trellis-stitch-video-tutorial/
A beautiful drawing, I like it very much with the added snowy scene. A sunny day here today, although cold I'm off to enjoy it. Have a great one!x

  10. A sunbathing hare, what a find! There are hares in the fields around our house but I rarely see them because they spot my dog long before we spot them and wisely keep well out of the way! xx

  17. Just enjoyed all your posts since Jan. 12th, Jacquie...my armchair walks with you :) and admiring your drawings! I'm sorry you caught a cold, but glad you could draw in spite of it. I am fighting off a virus I think I got at my art group yesterday at church, but am sipping some tea as I type to you and I'm so glad to read your posts. I love that you got to pet a donkey, and photograph a fluffy hare, and brilliant robin as well. Our local robins in Oregon are much duller in color...but still handsome and cheery to see. We are having unusually Springlike weather here and I posted a few photos of some of our Camellia blossoms a few days ago. I also posted photos of how I propped up my Amaryllis and think your curtain cord prop was very clever :) Wishing you and yours well xx

  24. Another lovely walk Jacquie through beautiful countryside. That hare is ENORMOUS!! He/she looks quite funny just sitting out in the middle of a paddock. Your new sketch is looking gorgeous too. Do you ever go back and look at your first sketches and compare them with your most recent? It's quite interesting to see how much we've developed our skills with each piece of artwork.

  29. Another lovely walk in beautiful countryside. Can I ask you a question, I would love to take myself off on countryside walks when nobody else wants or is available to come but I feel nervous about walking on my own on lonely footpaths, do you ever feel like this or do you feel perfectly safe? I really wish I had the courage to do it.

  35. That looks like a Very Large Hare! What a lovely walk you had - and I see you wear wristers over your gloves. (I must try that as my gloves are never quite warm enough.) That frozen puddle somehow makes me think of armour.

Brave you to draw a snowy picture - you've caught the blue tints perfectly. Have a good week!
