In the First week of February I'm.......

........smiling at snowdrops in the church yard


.........Putting the oven on to warm up  do some baking...........


.....Eating spicy gingerbread biscuits.........


.........Loving the wintry tree silhouettes.........


....stopping the car on the way home from work to photograph the full moon.........


.........and playing with yarn :0).......



I've gathered together all the colours needed for my ripple..........


They are based as closely as I can manage on the colours in my rug........



16 colours of yummy Stylecraft special. How I love to see them all lined up like this. I had to replenish my stash a little and I have added a couple of colours I havn't had before. Petrol and Stone are the new kids on the block.........


The complete line up, from bottom to top is
Burgundy,Raspberry, Pale Rose, Copper, Gold, Sage Green, Meadow, Khaki, Teal, Petrol, Lavender, Grape, Plum, Stone and Camel.

Here's where I'm up to right now...........


I'm still making the odd mistake with counting, but I'm finding that checking the second increase stitch is made between the two stitches of the second increase stitch of the previous row, EVERY TIME I get to the top of a "hill" is the best way to ensure I'm on track...........


And there's no denying these ripples are finding their gentle, rhythmic ways into my heart.......


Crochet ripples do seem like the perfect winter craft project.

    Ooooh I just LOVE snowdrops sooo beautiful what amazing photo's.Love Stylcraft yarn fab colours.How long does it take you to do one row of your ripple,it's looking lovely.Bet those biscuits have all gone yum yum.x

    I love the look of a ripple blanket but so far I've been unable to master it. Strange really I've made umpteen different crocheted items using endless stitches but this pattern just evade me! I'm loving the colours you've chosen and can't wait to see the finished item!

    Lovely post Jacqui, fab pictures. I love your ripple and I must try your tip for keeping on track. I was never able to master Lucy's ripple pattern, so I resorted to a different ripple for a blanket I made a while back, it is not as tight as this one though, I must try again. Your blanket colours are gorgeous. Elaine

    That silhouette photo with the trees is truly stunning Jacquie. I loved making a ripple blanket a couple of years ago and yes, just perfect for this time of year to enjoy the repetition. Enjoy the beautiful colours x

    Love the photos and love the ripple rug.
    I see that you are at least able to enjoy a winter of some snow interspersed with some nice days. :) I have friends who live on the Shetland Islands and they reckon it's been a bit woolly where they are! A few lovely rugs would not go astray for them. :)
    Meanwhile we are waiting for our summer to actually arrive. We had three really proper Aussie summer days back in December and then nothing. It was the spring I would have enjoyed. However, the weather experts are promising some summery weather over the coming days.
    We spent five days last week in the tropics. It's not behaving there either. It is normally very monsoonal at this time of year and there was no real rain while we were there, but it was hot. And I really miss it already. :)

    The ripples are gorgeous - I long to be able to crochet but I just don't stick with it. I've had a couple of beginners lessons but then not done a thing afterwards so it's all my own fault. Lovely to look at your wavy blankie though :)

    Yay! Some blooms! I spied my first bloom over the weekend, bring on spring! Love the ripple, I too keep on track at the 'hills' and 'valley' sections in a ripple. I've been 'frogging' more than anything on my latest project (a hat for my youngest) sometimes it just works out that way. ; P Have a good one! x

    Lovely photos and gorgeous colours for the blanket! I'm considering ripples or waves for a blanket for my boy but haven't decided on a pattern yet, I'm thinking something mindless for the evenings!! Does your pattern need much grey matter?? Oh , and the snowdrops, I am loving the little hints of spring, I saw some catkins today, I always have love them, the way they hang! Sharon. x

    Wasn't the moon amazing this week? The girls and I watched it move very quickly down over the horizon and then a streak of cloud came in front and then bump! it was gone. Jo x
