Hello Lovelies,
There's nearly always some crochet going on here so far this year, and it's largely baby blankets. This latest one was a commission!
My friends daughter saw THIS blanket that I made a couple of years ago. She wanted a blanket like it but in " pink or yellow"....Ummm.
Working in shades of one colour didn't really appeal too much. so I tentatively asked " or both?" And was happy when the reply came back, "yes please, yellow and pink" Phew.
I already had quiet a few Stylecraft shades and got going straight away.........
Rippling is not so easy for me. Working into every stitch and counting up to four is a lot slower than making granny squares I find. Why do I go wrong so often? Why am I always pulling back?
I know some of you other lovelies feel the same.
But in the end, it was just a small project and after two or three weeks it was done....woohoo.
and do I love it now?.....YES!
This was an early morning washing line shot and I LOVE the way it glows in the sunlight.
And I evened up the ripples with stitches of various heights at either end.....
The colours I used are all Stylecraft special DK.
The yellows are Lemon, Citrus and Saffron.
The Pinks are Pale Rose, Raspberry, Pomegranate, Candy floss, Fondant Clematis, and Fuchsia Purple.
I'm so pleased my friend's daughter loves the colours. And it's even nicer to hear that her six month old loves to cuddle it too.
There's no denying that the fiddle-some ripple makes a wonderfully soft and snugly blanket :0)

Yay! A lovely blanket. If I am going to be brutally honest, I hate yellow and pink together but that seems to work somehow. Well done you must be a genius. JOx

ReplyDeleteSo very lovely Jacquie! So right the mix of colors! I too found ripples to be a pain (many years ago) but finally they flow well now. Another lovely pattern for blankets with a soft ripple:http://www.ravelry.com/projects/angela8626/malibu-fling-2
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will be well loved!
Hi Jacquie+ This baby girl ripple is fabulous. Pinks and yellows are a really great combination. Throwing in some tangerine is also a winner. Well done, and me too doubt my color choices at times. But usually, if you just stick with it, it will turn out great in the end. Colors do react in surprising ways with each other.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend and cross fingers for sunshine shall we?
Xxx

Lovely. I may have a go at the ripples some when. I prefer to do granny squares at the mo, as I don't have to think too much!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful!!! I am sure that the baby will have this as a treasure for many years until they are not a baby any more!

Like you, I would have been sceptical about putting pinks and yellow together but it really works. I love the colour combination. I have to say I love rippling, I find it therapeutic and relaxing and during more complicated patterns I am longing to get back to some relaxing ripples. xx
