One Special January Day

Hello Lovelies,
yesterday's walk in the beautiful south Derbyshire countryside was particularly lovely. When the sun shines at this time of year the light can be quiet magical. The low angle of the sun illuminating the contours of the landscape and bringing a very welcome shot of intense colour. The very first brave blooms are emerging and they always look especially delightful with added sunlight.

I'm not going to write a description of each picture, I think they can tell a story themselves. Why not click on the first one to enlarge it, then scroll through and see what caught my eye when we ventured on a  walk from HERE and stopped for lunch HERE

Waterside walking, rolling hills, gushing streams, old trees, bird spotting and craftsmen working. Drifts of perfectly dainty Snowdrops in a natural setting. A stately home with clean loos and a warm cafe with a tasty treat. An old village, rooftops and Catkins....and not too much mud. Plus it was only half an hours drive from home. Could this be the perfect winter walk? Yesterday is certainly felt like it.
What a lovely day.

  2. Beautiful Derbyshire, I do so love a winter walk. There is a spot on my morning walk where the light is fantastic whenever the sun is out. I come round a corner, and there it is, on sunny days, shining through the trees onto a mossy path. Just an ordinary spot normally, but in the winter sunshine, quite magical, as you say. Have a lovely weekend Jacquie. CJ xx

  5. I did what you suggested and the photos did tell a story. What a wonderful walk! And to see that many deer resting/grazing so peacefully, was a bonus surely. Made me wish I could be THERE. And wonderful for you that it is so close to home!

  6. I enjoyed that walk, from the comfort of my laptop! Photo 20 is my favourite - that beautiful mossy wall and the sheep. Your snowdrops seem to be ahead of ours here in Hampshire though maybe I've been looking in the shadier woods. Have a lovely weekend. A

  8. What a gorgeous walk! I've seen my first snowdrops this week, but not that many. I can't believe what a beautiful day you had yesterday, it was wet and windy further north! Today has been sunny though.
