Hello lovelies,
After a few days break while I waited for a yarn delivery I finished my latest two baby blankets yesterday.
As I mentioned before these are for my sister in law to give to a friend of hers who is having twins very shortly .
They are the first items of crochet I've ever sold. It does add a bit more pressure to do a good job but I'm also really pleased to be starting my charity fund raising in this way.
I bought a pretty box to keep my items for sale clean and safe.........
Ooooooh crochet goodness peeking out :0)
Would you like to see what they look like ??
Yes
Good
Ta-dah........
Two soft and snugly baby blankets. Made from Stylecraft Special double knitting.......
They each have twelve different colours .
This one is made up of
Plum, fondant,grape,peach,shrimp,aster,meadow,lipstick,lemon,aspen,cloud and violet.........
And this one is made up of
Raspberry, spring green ,denim ,lavender ,saffron ,pomegranate, sherbet ,bluebell, pale rose ,violet and turquoise.....
I like they way they coordinate but are not the same. The twins Mum will know who's blanket is which ,but they compliment each other in such a great way...........
I was going to add a few rounds of the colours used in the blocks as a border , but they ended up a nice baby blanket size without one ( 28" square ) so I decided to go with one round of granny clusters in white followed by my favourite picot edging.........
I really hope my sister in law is pleased with them . I will let her decide on the price....I'm pretty awful at knowing what to charge for something like this ........
I have to laugh when I think how different they are to the blanket that I was inspired by. I still want to make one like that but I do love how these turned out.
Today was not great for taking photos . When the sun finally decided to come out late in the afternoon I dashed outside for a last minute sun shiny, blue sky washing line shot.......♥♥♥♥♥.........
Tomorrow I'll give them to my sister in law and the box will be almost empty ....but I've already started on something else to build up my stock a little .......I'll be sharing that very soon :0)
Have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteYes I had to laugh too at them being so different from your inspiration. I've just done the same with a bag I made. It was inspired by a jacket I'd seen but turned out nothing like it!
Beautiful! You're so fast :-).
ReplyDeleteDouble gorgeousness!! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteTotally stunning, well done! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, hand made presents are always the ones that are cherished long after the shop bought ones have been disgarded. Your Sister-In-Law has chosen wisely!

ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job!! What a precious gift to receive. Those are something mama will keep forever!! I too am the mother of twins. The box will make them REALLY fun to open!!
ReplyDeleteThe baby blankets are super cute! Those twins will be so lucky to have one of your wonderful blankets.
ReplyDeletelove your blankets, they are beautiful and what better way to start out in life than under a handmade crochet blanket. In answer to your question a while ago, I have used Etsy to sell handmade items before and it is very easy to use and reaches an international audience. It costs about 15p to list an item and that listing last for a few months. If it is linked to your blog then you shouldn't get "lost" in the vast Etsy marketplace.
ReplyDeleteThe blankets are beautiful Jacquie, your sister-in-law's friend will love them I'm sure. I like how they're are similar but not identical, pefect for tiny twins - awww! K xx
ReplyDeleteOOh they are beautiful!! Nice work :-)
ReplyDeleteThey both look gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum

ReplyDeleteI keep all of my crocheted items in a box and its a fab way of keeping them clean and safe, your box is a lot prettier than mine though :o)

ReplyDeletexx
love it. Fron Argentina, congratulations
ReplyDeleteOooh cripes they are special. Lovely, very very lovely. I have no idea what to suggest for a price as they must have taken you hours and hours of work but that's off set by the fact that you've enjoyed making them. It's a tricky one that. Just don't under value your work.
ReplyDeletexxx
What beautiful blankets, I'm sure your sister-in-law will be delighted with them and so will her friend's babies.
ReplyDeleteVery hard to decide on price, I guess I'd have a look on Etsy and Folksy and see if there is something similar to give you a guide.

So inspired! Perfectly vintage stylish. Right up my alley. You got it completely spot on with my style this time. What a lucky twin mother!
ReplyDeleteThese blankets are L O V E L Y ! Ooh they really will be smashing baby blankets :) I hope they are well received. I feel the same about selling my crochet - deciding on a price is so difficult, so as a result I've never sold any!
