Right now it's just started to rain but for most of the day it's been bright and sunny.
I made the most of the good light levels and spent some time taking photos for my wrist warmer tutorial.......
After a while I decided we all needed a breath of fresh air, and boy was it fresh....so windy today, I wonder how the little birds that regularly visit my feeders can fly straight...........
I
I was walking and got a bit left behind, partly because I kept stopping to take photos of things that caught my eye.
Like these pretty Snowdrops...........
And this stunning sky...........
How easy it is to rush about through the day and be oblivious to wonderful scenes like this. Our walk put me in mind of THIS favourite poem of mine
We came back home buffeted and refreshed and I resumed my tutorial writing in my sunny bedroom.
Today I've been wearing a dress I made over by adding some granny squares to the hem. It's looking a bit worn these days but I still love it .
THIS was the skirt that inspired it and you can read the original post about this project HERE
Hopefully I'll get some time to write up my tutorial soon....it always takes longer than you think :0)
I hope your lovelies are enjoying your weekend.

Jaquie I love your adornments and lucky you getting out and about we are now stuck in for the day and it is howling outside....time for hooking i think!

Those first snowdrops are so special - none by us yet but plenty of bulbs poking their way up through the ground. We're currently being buffeted by wind and rain. Nothing like the flooding those poor souls further South are suffering though - just enough to get comfy by the fire. What an ingenious way to lengthen a dress! Keep warm x Jane
ReplyDeleteThe wind and rain have just started again and with more force. So fed up of it now. I managed to get some shots of some snowdrops today before they are blown away. Keep safe and warm x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous snowdrops :) Can't wait for tutorial x
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I managed a quick walk into town earlier-but there's a full blown storm raging outside today so I think we'll be staying tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteLove those snowdrops.
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed a lot of work involved in a tutorial, so it is nice that you were able to get out and about for a bit! I love the trim that you added to your dress! So appropriate for you. xx
ReplyDeleteI've spotted some primroses today, but no snowdrops, so far... lovely photos, needless to say... ;)
ReplyDeleteThere isn't much I miss about the British winter, but I do miss seeing the first snowdrops - it seems to give hope that winter won't last much longer. Thank you for sharing your photos, and I'm looking forward to your tutorial - I feel some Christmas presents coming on!
ReplyDeletegood weekend for you too. Thanks for the chare.
ReplyDeleteLove the granny square additions to your dress :-)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know I adapted your owl pattern last night to make a little kiwi bird. It's for a swap I'm taking part in so need to wait until I get it posted and it arrives in the UK and then I am planning to share some pictures and I'll link back to your owl pattern if that's okay? I'll come and leave a comment when I get that far :-)
Glad you managed to get out for some fresh air, I nearly got blown away getting the washing in when the hail stared to fall. Love you're granny dress it's super cute

Your dress reminds me of a pair of trousers I had when I was about 5 years old. I grew too tall for them, but they still fit me around the waist, so my mother crocheted a granny square border and attached it to the hem. I still remember how much my teachers and random strangers in the grocery store would comment on my cute granny square hems!
ReplyDeleteAh look at that sweet little bird and the delightful snowdrops; then there's that magical sky - that blue is brilliant with those soft cottonwoolly clouds drifting by; and the new hem on your dress allowing you to keep wearing a garment that you love! To crown it all you managed to get out and about with your boys and enjoy the fresh English air whilst taking in some gentle exercise. Wonderful and thank you so much for sharing it all!

How lovely it looks out of doors where you live! We are in the midst of having the most snow on the ground over the longest period of time that I can ever remember except for the four years I lived in Vermont. Oh well. More time to stay indoors and make crafty things, right?!
ReplyDeleteLucky you with the lovely sunshine! And I smiled at the pics of your boys - we always have to nag the girls to get out for a big walk, but once out, they have a blast and then whine when it's time to go home! Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice day. I love your dress :-) Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to get outside and into fresh air even when it's blustery. Glad you had a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteAnne xx

Sounds like a lovely day Jacquie, love that sky photograph. I have just finished a pair of fingerless gloves for a friends birthday and totally appreciate how long a tutorial can take to make, you are very kind and patient to do this and I look forward to seeing it xox enjoy the rest of your weekend x

Gorgeous pics, well done for getting out in the fresh air it hasn't stopped raining all day here and we all have a touch of cabin fever. I made some wristies last week I didn't have a pattern so just winged it I can't wait to see how to do them properly.
ReplyDeleteLove the customisation of the skirt. Nice stuff!
ReplyDeleteI was recently visiting my son and his family. It was hot, it was windy and I watched some little birds attempting to fly into the wind. They were literally flying on the spot. If I'd had a proper camera on me, it would have been a fabulous photo.
I think that from reading the comments that there are a lot of ladies looking to make your wrist warmers.
