Elmer Blanket Ta-dah

Hello Lovelies,
I'm back with a ta-dah ....my latest baby blanket . I think many of you who blog will know how this sharing is such a wonderful part of being creative. At home this sort of make would go largely unnoticed but here there are lots of like minded lovelies who see colourful crochet through the same eyes as me....it really makes me happy to look at these pictures and I hope you feel at bit happy/inspired by them too.

Here is my "Elmer" blanket , once again it's inspiration came from HERE .

Ta-dah!!!!!!!!.........

It's made up of 99 three round granny squares joined as you go.Once again the yarn is stylecraft acrylic. I love the way it goes so well with my baby ripple....also made from mostly the same colours of this yarn......

In case you were wondering there are 19 colours in total and they are listed here:-

Aspen,Aster,Apricot,Bluebell,Cloud,Grape,Lemon,Lipstick,Lavender,Meadow,
Plum,Raspberry,Saffron,Shrimp,Sherbet,Spring Green,Turquoise,Violet and Wisteria.

I made a border using six rounds of granny clusters and a picot edge to finish. .........

Oooooooh, I always love a washing line shot and I'm really happy with the way this blanket has turned out.
I even love the back, were the little spikes created by the join as you go method are more visible . This effect kind of reminds me of a jig-saw.........

The blanket measures 34inches by 28inches ( 86 x 71 cm) and will be put in my online shop as soon as I've made more stock to open one :0)
I'm  hoping  to raise some funds for the cancer charity I've chosen to run for this year.

The weather has been pretty grey and wet here this week but I managed to get a sunny picture yesterday morning , when the sun popped out for a few minutes.......

Yay, colourful crochet in the sun , what a happy sight!
Have a great Sunday .

  3. Woweeeee I love it! You and Heather are the inspiration for my latest blanket - I have only made 9 squares so far though and keep changing my mind on the colours!! hehe. Having a week off next week though so hope to be churning them out soon. I love the joining as you go look but don't think I would be able to get the colour combination right if I did it like that, so I have the task of joining them all at the end to look forward to! Love your colours though, it looks so happy and just like Elmer! x

  16. I LOVE your Elmer blanket, it's so cheerful! I know babies respond very well to bright colours, so it's a perfect baby blanket! It's a shame that all your work is not noticed at home...I have the same here...luckily we have our blogfriends!

  18. Your lovely bloggy 'TaDah!' is the same sort of thing as my bloggy 'WooHoo!'. At my house, no-one batted an eyelash when I announced that I had finished my 73,528 crochet stitches.

Um, tell me about Stylecraft? Any itch factor? Drape? I'm having trouble getting over my need to FEEL yarn before making the plunge.

  40. It is just beautiful! I am new to crocheting but did make a granny square baby quilt many years ago. That's when pastels were in. I like the bright colors a lot better. I am wondering, though, how you attach as you go. Don't know if I can figure that out on my own. I will check the rest of your blog to see if you mention it. Or if you have a minute, could you shoot me a quick email? newgramma@sbcglobal.net
