Hello lovelies, I'm feeling very lucky to have a relaxing week at home stretching out in front of me. No alarms need to be set. Some housework is calling but apart from that my boys and I are just relaxing seeing what the day brings.
I'm enjoying the flowers in our garden.The weather is still holding out and the sunshine has encouraged my geraniums into flower at last.
The only trouble is all this good weather is making me wish this was our Holiday week. I've still got a few more weeks to wait till I get to see the sea again and I do wish it was sooner.
Still , half the enjoyment of a holiday is the anticipation , don't you think ? So I'm thinking lots about the sea and hoping the weather is kind to us when we get our turn on the beach. And what better way for a crochet nut to channel all her seasidy thoughts but into some beachy ripples..........
I love these cool, fresh colours and I was inspired to use them after admiring Lucy's latest project........
This will be another baby blanket for my shop and I'm using Lucy's Neat ripple pattern again.
All the time I'm rippling up and down the crochet waves I'm thinking of last years holiday in Cornwall with it's rugged rocks and turquoise seas.......
Wonderful golden sandy beaches, blue skys and exciting waves........
Colourful fishing boats and sandy play.......
It's wonderful to have a family holiday to look forward to ( North Devon this year....somewhere we haven't been before ) and wonderful to channel my excitement into something creative......

ReplyDeleteOh I love this, is it stylecraft special DK? I have just made my July blanket out of similar blues with a dark brown in too. It was a gift for a friends wedding but I am itching to make myself one now.

ReplyDeleteNot sure where in north Devon you are off to but I got married in Ilfracombe on Friday and it is a perfect seaside location for admiring the coast and eating sea food!

ReplyDeleteNorth Devon will be lovely, my parents lived there for a while and we would spend wonderful days exploring the gorgeous beaches and lovely towns. great places to visit are, Bude with its lovely beach, Appledore just charming, Bideford lots of interesting little shops............I could go on but I'm starting to sound like I'm working for the tourist board LOL!

I do know beach hut caravans and love them however I am a one woman band and am trying to keep mine a little more affordable?? I envy your crochet talent, wouldn't know where to start! Those colours really say "seaside!" I can imagine using a blanket like that in the winter and remembering those long hot seaside summer days. Even if they are in our imaginations!

Just one question though, I have tried to do this ripple blanket from Lucy's site but on the 'mountain' mine tends to pucker a little. The 'valley' sits quite well but that mountaintop just sticks right out.
Any ideas?

Hi Karen , ripples are tricky till you get used to them . I'm not sure why yours pucker but it is very easy to get your waves out of sync. I always check the second increase stitch sits in the gap between the 2 stitches of the second increase stitch of the previous row.....hope this makes sense.
