Hello Lovelies , just thought I would share a few pictures I took over the weekend. No views this time, they all seem to be close ups.
Firstly more simple baking , again involving oats and golden syrup :0)
These beauties are Sues Oaty Ginger biscuits and they were a BIG hit . I'll certainly be making more of these........
My mixture seemed a bit dry so I added an extra tablespoon of golden syrup and they were yummy ! All gone now.
The sun may have been shining but these mushrooms in the grass reminded me that there will not be many more alfresco crochet days left this year.........
Thirdly a gorgeous pansy flower. My summer annuals are past their best so I planted up a pot of pansies to go next to the front door . This flower go knocked off but I could not throw it out so I popped it in a little glass on the kitchen windowsill.........
On Sunday we woke to a very Autumnal misty morning........I grabbed my camera and went into the garden........the dewy drops of water made the many cobwebs look wonderful......
After a fruitful crochet weekend ( haven't had one of those in ages ) I'm onto the border of my ripple ....yipee...... I feel a ta-dah post approaching very soon ........

Those are fantastic pictures. The one of the spider web with the mist on it looks like a string of pearls. Beautiful!

Beautiful close up of the web - was thinking exactly the same as Deborah, like tiny pearl necklaces. I've really missed having access to a macro lens, my son has taken the one I used to use (well it is his...!) over to Shropshire with him. Definitely on the wish list... x

ReplyDeleteYou are a clever thing! I don't know where you get the time to do all the things you do. A very organised lady, methinks. Your bikkies look lovely, but have you tried an ANZAC biscuit? Huge here in Oz since around WWI. Recipe is simple and they will go like the proverbial:
ReplyDeletePut the oven on. A slow oven is best, which is around 145 to 150 degrees celsius.
1 cup oats
1 cup plain flour
1 cup brown sugar (the stuff that is sticky and fine grained)
3/4 cup of dessicated coconut. Combine these four ingredients in a bowl and get them well combined. I find I have to smoosh out sugar lumps, even if you do sift it, you will get lumps!
Next, in a saucepan place 125g/4oz of butter or margarine and 2 tablespoons of golden syrup. Heat very gently and keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn. While the butter is melting, boil the kettle.
When the butter mix is melted, add 1/2 teaspoon of bicarb soda to a cup and pour 2 tablespoons of boiling water into it and stir well. If a lump gets through, the person who cops it is not going to be pleased with the taste. Once you are satisfied there is no lumps, pour mixture into melted butter and stir through thoroughly. Pour mixture into dry ingredients and combine carefully until there is no dry bits left and smoosh any sugary lumps if they are there.
Put spoonfuls of the mix, like your other oaty creations onto a tray and bake in the slow oven for 20 minutes. Slide off onto a rack to cool and watch them disappear.
Great to eat while snuggled under a lovely rug like your ripple creation with a hot cup of your favourite beverage!

Your biscuits look lovely - I bet they didn't hang around long! The photo of the web is amazing. I remember walking to school in the Autumn alongside a park with big metal railings. Between each railing was a spider web covered in dew. It was so pretty that I felt enchanted and mesmerised by it - so much so I didn't look crossing a road and almost got squished!! Lily. xxx

ReplyDeleteThe photos of the spider's web is simply stunning. I have been 'playing' with macro photography for a little while now with varying degrees of success. May I ask what type of camera you use and if you use a specialised macro lens for the closeup shots?

Hi karen , thank you for your lovely comment . I don't have a macro lens. Just a compact camera ....canon IXUS.....it seems to be very good at close ups and I just love it :0)
