Yesterday we woke to sunshine and though it was cold I couldn't wait to go for a walk in the countryside.
The trees are still bare .......
And there is only a tiny amount of blossom, you have to look hard to find it........
But walking along quite footpaths and admiring the blue sky with cotton wool clouds was bliss......
The air was crisp and fresh and the sun on my back even had a bit of heat in it.........
There was such an air of anticipation ....... from the ploughed fields ready to be planted with a new crop......... to the willows in the valley already changing colour.
I think the weeping willows are the first trees you can really notice beginning to wake up after their winter rest..........
the fields looked like patchwork , glimpsed over the still bare hedgerows.........
In the churchyard snowdrops are still in flower and it's the sort of day that makes you feel very blessed to have time to slow down a bit and appreciate it......
I even found time to photograph a very sweet cottage looking lovely in the sunshine ......
I LOVE simple ,old buildings .....of course I would love to try and draw this :0)
P.S. I haven't forgotten about the PIF....I'll draw the winners on Sunday ....hope that's ok

ReplyDeleteI was walking back from school this morning - and thinking along very similar lines. My phone camera doesn't do the scenery justice. Spring feels so close - but still far away as there is still an awful lot of snow on the ground here. But it positively twinkled in the sunlight this morning, and you can't beat jumping on frozen puddles and hearing the ice snap - not sure what it looks like though - a 6ft 15 year old boy and his 40 something mum! But we had fun. xx
ReplyDeletelovely pics Jacquie and the brickwork on that cottage is wonderful....
ReplyDeleteSpring must be just around the corner.
Righto, I'm off to bed now to have another read through my 'new' book...

I'm thinking the church photo would be a good choice for one of your lovely colored pencil drawings. Would you consider a tutorial on the steps to creating one?

That phrase 'cotton wool clouds' brings back lovely memories of making collages at school with blue sugar paper and cotton wool. Add a couple of hills made out of tissue paper, a river made out of foil and a little square cottage (ooh and some of those lovely 'm' shaped birds) and you've got it! Lovely pictures x Jane
ReplyDeleteIsn't it lovely to see some blue skies? Gorgeous photos of the countryside. I love the effect of the brick pattern in the house in the last photo.
