Hello Lovelies,
Yesterday, for the first time since before her operation, mum and I were able to go out for a little weekday drive....nothing too adventurous.
Just travelling along winding roads through little villages and past fields of crops and cattle.
When we rounded one bend we both gasped with delight at the mass of poppies that covered the horizon between the trees...........
Of course we had to stop and take a closer look............
While Mum sat in the car and did a sketch I got out with my camera. Here's the view from the gateway.......
It was hard to get a good photograph close up as the poppies bobbed and fluttered in the breeze...........
A little bit further along the road there was a gap in the hedge so we stopped again to get a view back towards the corner.......another wow...........
That stretches almost as far as the eye can see..........
It was such a treat to find so many of these beautiful wild flowers , and such a blessing to be able to share it with mum.

ReplyDeleteSo so pleased to hear your Mum was able to get out and enjoy the countryside with you. Your pictures bring it all to life! The poppies are a magnificent sight. For me, they conjure up that scene in 'The Wizard of Oz' where Dorothy falls asleep after the wicked witch casts her spell on them. Thank you for really brightening my day, and continued best wishes for your Mum x
ReplyDeleteGlad you could get out with your Mum this week. Loving the poppies here too - but I've not managed to find time to stop the car, nor a suitable place to take some photos. I must sort that out - your photos are stunning. x
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your Mum is feeling stronger. Those poppies are beautiful. Poppies are just so bright and cheerful somehow. :)

ReplyDeleteHow lovely to be able to take a little trip with your mum again. My favourite is the fifth one down - the richness and contrast of the colours is beautiful. It just goes to show sometimes we 'literally' do not know what is around the next corner! Enjoy the sunny weather x Jane
ReplyDeleteLast week we drove from Derbyshire to Cornwall for a short break and were also captivated by all the Poppy's. So pretty, especially in contrast to the yellow rape seed flowers.

ReplyDeleteBest wishes to mum on her road to recovery.
What a beautiful sight. The fields round our way have are the same, but the poppies are mainly round the edge of the crop. I'd love to know how they harvest the rapeseed without the poppies! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for those beautiful pictures. Oh I am dreaming to see the same in real life. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteHugs for you and your mum

The poppies are really enjoying this weather. Here in Lincolnshire the wheat fields are full of them, so beautiful to see such deep red on the skyline. Your shots are just perfect and capture their fluttery petals beautifully. Have a wonderful...and warm...weekend! Chel x
ReplyDeleteThank you for your beautiful pics - I soooo love poppies! And such good news that your Mum is now well enough to get out for a drive with you, and that she's feeling like sketching again!
ReplyDeleteThe very best to you both and your loved ones!

It is great to read that your mum is well on the mend.
ReplyDeleteLove the poppies in the field. We get nothing like that here in Australia. I just love your landscape photos. I can't wait to be in England for myself to see it for real. I'm lucky that a lot of my ancestral home towns are rural rather than in big cities. :)
Thanks for sharing.
So wonderful! The poppy field is amazing! What a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely fabulous pics of my favourite wild flower. Thank you for sharing. Glad your mum is getting stronger. Blessings, Trills.
