A Pretty Painting

Hello lovelies,
pretty pictures seem to have been a bit thin on the ground over the last couple of days. I've been out walking locally  every day. I'm sure you have seen these views many times, but they do still make me smile.

I'm always happy that I have countryside on my doorstep

It means so much to me to easily be able to feel in touch with the seasons and appreciate nature.

Today I've been defrosting the freezer, I'm sure you are thrilled to see this process 😂.

It's a pain of a job but it's done now. I suppose most people have frost-free freezers these days?

This one was my Nanna's . She had it to preserve all the produce my grandad grew on his two allotments. That generation had such great eco credentials without even having heard of such a thing, hadn't they . It's pretty old now but holds loads. These days it's not homegrown foods sadly, but I still feel it helps us avoid waste and saves us loads of money.

The temperatures have really dropped this week and I fear the end maybe nigh for my cosmos. We haven't had a frost yet but I think tonight must be the night. It's currently 3 degrees Celsius outside  (9pm)

I do like cold nights and I've put our winter duvet on the bed this week. It's been so snugly and lovely.

Thankfully the garden has some things in it which look their best in  winter, like this crab apple. There's a full sized tree of the same variety ( Red Sentinel)  on my regular walking route and it's a magnet for the birds in the cold months.

I just love to see the Redwings, fieldfares and blackbirds feasting.

Last winter I did quite a few digital paintings using an app on my phone. You may have seen them on Instagram.

I don't think I shared this one though. Looking at it again now I'm pretty pleased with it. It could make a nice Christmas card, don't you think?

I'm so  happy that I managed to finish this post with a pretty picture for you lovelies.

Stay cosy if you are in a chilly part of this beautiful world.

  1. I have to manually defrost my fridge/freezer but I don't do it nearly so much as I should. It is not something I enjoy. My first fridge was one from the fifties, (in the mid/late eighties), it had a lovely shape and worked perfectly too. I don't think they want them to last too long these days sadly.

You are right, the painting would make a beautiful card. He is such a jolly and bright eyed bird and I love the colours of the berries, very Christmassy. It would be easy for you to either print them yourself, or send them out to a printers. You are a natural illustrator. It's lovely!

  2. You are so fortunate to have the countryside so close to where you live. Perfect for all the walking you do! I really like the cheerful painting at the end of your post. It would make a lovely Christmas card!

  3. It's a very pretty and Christmassy painting, would make a great Christmas card or a December page for a home made calendar

  4. I love your picture.
. I’d be interested to know how you do it, is it literally drawing on your phone?

  5. Yes, I found a free app in the app store. Takes some getting used to but is really good once you master it x
