Sewing in the ends

Hello Lovelies,
I'm back with a crochet post today...Hurray. My third blanket of 2011 is almost finished :0)
I've been soldiering on in the recent heatwave ,completing the last few rounds of my "vintage" giant granny.
Yesterday was a work day. I didn't get home till 6.30pm and the cooler weather meant it felt so cozy to take my blanket into the bedroom to complete the border. At the end of a stressy day it was wonderful to enjoy a quiet cuppa watching the final of The Great British Bake Off ,snuggled up in bed with my hooky . It's the perfect relaxation for me .

Today the weather has turned so blustery and garden is covered in leaves......

A little thrifting, mingled in with the regular shopping this morning netted this lovely.....

It was reduced to £1.50 and I bought it for the pretty 100% cotton fabric which will be ideal for small sewing projects. It also has 7 cute glass buttons which are a bonus.........

Back home this afternoon I enjoyed sitting chatting with my Mum as the wind whistled in the chimney. I'm sewing in the ends now !! ..........

As you can see it's back to socks weather here and it was  lovely to cozy up under my blanket.......

Back soon with a ta- dah :0)

Thank you all for your continued wonderful comments. I'm still having troubles leaving comments on some blogs .
Also, I'm also still waiting to here back from you, Anne and Claire ,my giveaway winners . I hope you got my e.mail. If not leave a comment here and I'll try again :0)
Hope your week is going well.
Jacquie x

  2. I've been trying to sew the ends in as I go on both the blankets I'm working on - else I fear that I'd never do them - it is my most hated task.

Has been a sock day here too - well for one foot!!

  4. Yes I sew in the ends as I go too....otherwise, the bigger the piece gets, the more I dread finishing it! Your blanket looks lovely, can't wait to see it finished.

  5. I so wish we had thrift shops here :(
Your giant granny blanket is looking wonderful though it makes me feel even hotter as the temperatures here are even higher than they were in July and August!
Hop on over for a visit at my blog--I left you a little something there ;)

  7. Every time you post a photo of your giant granny blankets it makes me want to make one! I've just started my cashmerino ripple blanket though so perhaps I will hold off just a little longer on the giant granny :-)

  11. I love the colours of your giant granny Jacquie, just beautiful and romantic. As for the dress, it's a stunner, I would be tempted to wear it as a vintage style dress, maybe over jeans? before cutting it up. Love a glass button or two I do. I think you have a real eye for gorgeous colour combinations xox I'm just about to watch the recorded British bake Off from last night, I'm so pleased you didn't mention who won:0)

  12. Mad the way the weather was cold and miserable and then hotter than a summers day and now back to blowing a gale and cold. Loving the cooler weather though. I love the cosy cosy season! This winter I will knit socks.

  16. I've been enjoying the Great British Bake Off every week too, it's been great seeing all the different creations. I don't know what was going off with that trophy though - I wouldn't like to have that on my mantlepiece!
Lovely charity shop find; you've got your money's worth there with the fabric AND buttons.

  22. You sound like a woman after my own heart. I love nothing more than relaxing in bed with my crocheting watching something good on TV. I too am making a granny blanket. There is something really soothing about crocheting something that you don't have to think too hard about.Looking forward to seeing the finished article

  33. Hi Jacquie,
Beautiful blanket, I also am looking forward to your ta-da. I love those buttons on your thrift store find.
Just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your patterns and tutorials. I am using the mini hexagons to try to make a version of a quilt picture, except in crochet. Also the flower broach and how you fixed the pin on the back was awesome.
    Hugs,
    René

  34. Hello
    Love the big granny.

I too have crocheted a big granny. When it gets big enough, you start to need more than one ball to go all the way round. But then you have some leftovers you can't use.....so another blanket starts....and it continues.

You can never have too many crochet blankets, lol.

    Best Wishes
    Primrose
