Hello Lovelies,
I love these slow days between Christmas and new year. When there is no need to rush and leisurely breakfasts are a simple pleasure. I'm a convert to porridge this winter.
One cup of porridge oats, two cups of milk. warm in a pan and you have two steaming bowls of creamy porridge.........
we have ours with golden syrup...easy and delicious.
As I stirred I gazed at my second bowl of hyacinths beginning to open up....pink this time.........
I love their delicate flowers but I can't say I have noticed any scent yet.........
After a late breakfast hubby and I headed out for a walk with a friend. There was no hurry and it was nice to be able to agree to eldest's request to take his new bike in the back of the car.....and then watch him speed off around the lake as we walked and chatted.......
I loved the watery sunlight.........
and the swans making ripples in the lake.........
Just before we left I spotted a colourful Jay...........
Spare hours this afternoon meant I could relax with a little watercolour sketching in my small sketchbook........
I was feeling inspired by this photo I took on Christmas day and shared in yesterday's post..........
simple and slow.....birds, flowers, family, friends and a little creativity......
days like this make me happy.

I think I may become a convert to porridge too, Jacquie, after reading your inspiring post. I'm certainly going to give it a try again. And I love your watercolour painting!!!xx
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post.. the one of the swans on the lake was lovely. You inspire me to get out my watercolors.. but I'm in the middle of making some soft cotton PINK baby booties.. and then I have thank you notes to write. I also love this week.. by the fire and no pressures.

Lovely photographs :)
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds lovely and relaxing, ours is proving a rather busy but fun Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love your photos from your walk, especially the one of the swans on the lake. How lovely to see a jay too, such beautiful birds, it is a while since I have seen one. I haven't relaxed as much as usual between Christmas and now as I have been organising my Mum's 90th birthday party which takes place tomorrow. Hopefully after that I can begin to relax. Your watercolour is lovely, you are definitely multi-talented. xx
ReplyDeleteLovely to visit you, Jacquie :) I enjoyed seeing your swans. We have some mallards swimming on our ponds these days. I started watering my amaryllis bulb I had last winter two weeks ago and it has a nice tall stem with a bud ready to bloom! Last Sat. I got together with some friends and we sloshed around paint on a gelli pad and put our papers on the pad and used a roller to transfer the paint to the paper. We were intent on creating angel shapes and it was great fun to see the pretty herald of angels we created :) I will post a photo when I publish a post in the next few days. I love your sweet water color and have been enjoying getting Nora's watercolor posts in my email nearly every day. Thanks for posting! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo's again ☺ and a great walk too ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice post today Jacquie. I love the calmness of these days between Christmas and New Year's too. It looks like you're having such beautiful weather. It would be nice to be able to go out and take a walk but it's too cold to do that here. It's supposed to be 8°F tonight. I love the photo you took and the re-creation of it. A lot of talent! Blessings, Betsy
