Local Camping

Hello Lovelies ,back in 2010 we bought a tent and that summer we had a little break in Norfolk. Last year the tent never came out of the loft and the boys have been asking to go camping again. Looking at the calender midweek it became clear that if we were to actually use the tent this year it had to be soon .So  we booked a couple of nights at a local campsite over the weekend. Staying local meant we could invite the boys two cousins to join us . The weather forcast was pretty bad , I watched with dismay as the warning triangle appeared on the telly ...HEAVY RAIN !! noooo, please not this weekend.
I'm happy camping when the weather is good but not when it's cold or wet. Still this was not for me , it was for the youngsters and they were beyond excited.

When we arrived on Friday afternoon the rain began to fall, but thankfully it did not last and by the time we had set up camp the sun was shining........

Yay , blue skys and colourful stripes.........

The campsite was really nice and we got an excellent spot with plenty of space and some small trees to tie our washing line to.......

I loved the reflections in the shiny whistling  kettle.......

The youngsters were in their element and when they weren't off exploring on their bikes they were fetching water, making tea and washing up. All so exciting in the outdoors :0)
I was happy to sit in the shade with my crochet............

The dry weather held out into the evening and we enjoyed a simple BBQ followed by toasted marshmallows........

It rained in the night and when we got up it was pretty cloudy , but we set off for a bit of exploration on bikes ( children ) and foot (Mr BM and I ).
This simple wildflower really takes me back to the long summer holidays of my own childhood. And it has such a pretty name......

Rose Bay Willow Herb

We were walking/riding  along the side of a disused canal. It's a long time since any boats have travelled this way but it's still oh so pretty don't you think. The house in this picture the was derelict   for a number of years but has now been lovingly restored..imagine living there ...sigh
This wonderfully lush summer scene , with the sky reflected in the water makes me very happy.....

Looking in the other direction you can see the bridge I stood on to take the previous photo. There was so much wildlife here and we spent a long time watching dragonflys and butterflys darting about. There were loads of fish too and the boys and their cousins  saw what they called a "water snake " ...this caused much excitement , but it had slithered off before I got there........

All those things proved hard to photograph so I settled for a stationary subject......

Bulrushes.

As you can see it was very sunny by this time ...........

We had set out in warn clothes and were getting a bit hot and bothered
so  we headed back to the campsite to seek out some shade and cool down a bit.......

Yes , we really were lucky with the weather and the children seemed to enjoy their mini adventure .
Though I think we were all glad to get back into our  own beds on Sunday night .

Bunny Mummy,Bunny Mummy, where have you been......?

We've been off to Norfolk to try out our tent!!!

Mr BM and I had booked the week off work, and the weather forecast was good, so we decided to take the plunge and head off on our first family camping trip.Just a short break, after the madness of the bank holiday weekend had died down.

Being new to this ,the packing took me ages.Trying to remember everything we would need. Finally ,we squeezed it all into the car and set off, heading East.
North Norfolk is getting quite familiar to us now as we have visited it both last year, and the year before.Usually in our regular holiday accommodation,a static caravan.

This was an adventure ,trying out camping,so heading somewhere we knew made it a little less daunting.

We chose a site which was recommended by friends, and very nice it was too.Lovely clean loos and showers, which was a priority for me!
Loads for the boys to do too.I'm sure we will return for a longer stay one day.
The camping areas are dotted amongst heath land.....

The heather was looking gorgeous......

And there was a great view across fields towards the sea.........

Here is our tent in the early morning sun .....

We had the luxury of electric hook up ,so I took along some home comforts to make life easier....

This table is actually our camp table from my childhood,it's a little shabby nowadays, but I still love the bright red colour.

Here's a cosy bedroom........

Warm sunny days were followed by very chilly nights. Our little fan heater kept us warm whilst we played cards. Thick P.J.s and socks were in order for bed.

I know the lovely weather made a huge difference, but I was surprised how much I liked the whole experience.

The boys had a great time too, popping to the site shop for supplies, fetching drinking water ,and even washing up at the outdoor sinks.

I've got some pretty sea side pictures to share with you ,if you can indulge me ,it will be the last time this year.

They will have to wait till tomorrow though as I'm pooped now!

Thank you all for the amazing comments on my last post. Glad to see I'm not alone in being a little self conscious about my hobby.

Remember there's still time to join my giveaway , just leave me a comment on my previous post.

Pop back tomorrow for a sea and sunshine fix.
