Little Things

Hello Lovelies,
just thought I would share a few of the little things that have made me smile over the past few days.
Firstly, potting on my Lupin seedlings...I'm so happy they are growing well . I've moved them outside now they are getting bigger but I'm keeping them well away from slugs ........

Secondly, Simple Baking...Flapjack........ Love the fact that there are only four ingredients and I can make it with one bowl and one spoon. The boys love it in their packed lunch too ...perfect :0)

Thirdly....my new Wicker bike basket.......spent some of my birthday money on this and I think it's perfect ......Thanks Mum.........

Fourthly , going out on an evening cycle ride with my boys last week. The air was so still and the light was gorgeous. We had a great time together enjoying the warmth and quiet streets. There was hardly traffic....think the football on T.V. helped :0)

                                                 poppies in the allotments

Next,Finding a vintage sheet in the charity shop and cycling home looking at it in my basket........

Washing it and hanging it on the line to dry.......

It's colours are so sunny and vibrant I don't think it's ever been used.I can think of so many uses for this fabric, like tablecloths and curtains and of course in patchwork....what do you think ?

Waking to bright sunshine and blue skys on Sunday morning . Putting on my trainers but leaving my MP3 at home and going for a run through the summer scenery. Listening to the birdsong and drinking in the beauty of the season.I didn't encounter another soul , loved this hour of me time ...

Coming home to find we had a little visitor in our pond.......a cute frog who isn't camera shy.....I've left this picture small incase any of you are not keen on these creatures. I think he is wonderful......I'm already calling him Freddy and hoping he eats lots of slugs :0)......

Click on the picture if you want to see it larger

My hexagons, they are growing and I've decided what to do with them....just another row and a bit of sewing and I'll there......

Not a great picture , it's raining AGAIN here today.

And last but NOT least...all your wonderful comments on my tutorial.....they really do mean a lot...THANK YOU
 Jacquie x

  1. I love Freddy the frog!!! We have two around our place. One is a pretty big fella. I haven't named it yet - just call him Froggie. He sits every evening on our deck waiting for the bugs to come to him that have gathered around our outside light. The other is a little, itty bitty froggie. He tried to jump into our garage, which we knew wasn't right for him. So my DH grabbed him and placed him back outside in the flower bed where he belonged. I'll try and get some pics of them if I can.

  2. JUST discovered your blog 10 minutes ago, and what a find! Thank you for the inspiration, and I can identify with the pleasure of the charity shop find and the fun of deciding what to make with it!

  3. I just love your new bicyle basket: GORGEOUS! How adorable is that baby lupin plant that you are about to transplant.. that brand new lupin leaf is so sweet! What beautiful double poppies in your garden!
I'm coming along well with the "Sail Away" pattern and just need to do the sails and flags now. Just one little point, when I started to crochet the boat's hull, (Row 1), I did 1 hdc in second and not third chain from the hook, otherwise I didn't end up with the right number of stitches according to the pattern.
Great picture of nature just before the frog!
I miss all the nice little postage-stamp sized photos you had on your blog list! It made it such fun to see other people's entries and then click on them!

  10. Love the bike, I like the idea of free wheeling with the basket full of yummy things, trouble is my coordination isn't good so I might end up in a hedge! The sheets are lovely, I found a lovely lilac one last week, I took a photo of it on the washing line, my daughters think I'm mad! Ada :)

  11. I wish we lived somewhere where I'd feel safe to go out on a bike. Mind you, if I did, like your previous commenter, I'd probably end up in the hedge as well! :oD

Those flapjacks look wonderful. 4 ingredients and one bowl, you say? Sounds interestingly easy. :o)

  14. Oh my, those sheets!!! What an amazing find, you are so lucky! :) I never find anything like that in thriftshops around here. But I did find lots of Arcopal china for like 25 cents, so I guess that balances it out ;)

  19. haven't finished reading the entire blog - I had to stop after the comment about moving the lupines out and fearing the slugs getting to them..... I've a FOOL PROOF method to keep them away from cherished plants....... head to your local hardware store and ask for some copper sheeting - thin enough to cut with shears but be careful not to cut yourself the edges cane be extremely sharp...... next shape the strips into a circular collar and place around the plants or pots the cherished plants are in..... VIOLA!!!!! Slugs WILL NOT cross the copper!!!! There is some sort of chemical reaction from their slime when they encounter the copper ad they simply will not go beyond it! :))))

  23. What lovely pictures! I had a rubbish day yesterday, and this really cheered me up. I love your lupins and your little froggy. The battle with the slugs in my garden is ongoing, but I've given up on lupins.

Pretty, pretty colours on your fabrics too! We've got to get our sunshine from somewhere. *glares out of window*
