Playing With Yarn

Hello, how was your Wednesday ? Hopefully not too bad, and remember ,it's all down hill to the weekend now :0)

I've been feeling a little bit yuck today. So to cheer myself up I've been playing with yarn.
I have a rather large yarn stash these days. Mostly cheap and cheerful acrylic .I really think this stuff is great.
Yes, sometimes it can be a little scratchy , but once you get to know the nicer brands (like Hayfields Bonus, Patons Fab or Cygnet )it's generally great to work with, and reassuring to know it will stand up to repeated washing and won't attract moths.
The reasonable cost is a big factor too. In a household where there are so many demands on our finances ,it's great to have a hobby that costs so little.

Using some ice cream colours ,I made a few more circles for my blanket....

Of course I do occasionally buy yarn that ,in hindsight, is a bit tacky. The colours are a bit too "neon " when they are viewed in the daylight. They languish ,hidden at the back of my stash .
These two are prime examples....

Lime green, and neon orange, the colours that taste forgot !!

Still you never know if they may come in handy one day, and today turned out to be just such a day.I found this pattern via Ravelry. and made this........

A bit of fun for Halloween.

She is quite a pretty Witch , don't you think.........

And she was enjoyable to make, on a day that I wasn't feeling like doing much at all.

  1. I hope that you are feeling better soon.
I've made many a slip up when it comes to buying yarn from the internet. Perhaps you could crochet some bright orange pumpkins?

  7. you always make me smile,I think we all have a little stash of yuk somewhere lol I have had a yukk experience this week,I was 3 rows from finishing a rug and a friend was admiring the flowers in the centre and about 10 rows out from that she said o'h you turned your work around and have worked the largest part on the wrong side!!! I have pulled it all undone and have a ball of wool the size of a soccer ball to re crochet! I could have left it but not being experienced I did not know, now I do and it stuck out at me lol anyway I have since learnt that each time you go around you change direction and it does not show.I will put it on my blog when I finish as I will never forget this rug! HAve a lovely day xx

  9. Sorry you feel low Jacquie and hope tomorrow brings a brighter day but what a fabulous witch. I love it. Your circles are looking lovely too.
I have been sorting out my yarn today and have some awful colours but have found they sometimes go great together especially for kids things. My stash is mainly acrylic, it is the best kind for family use I think. Of course I am partial to a bit of luxury occasionally(but mainly if I can get the hubby to pay!)
