Just a post of colourful things that have made me smile this week.
I've finally remembered my starflower mandala which I started back in.....JULY.
I'm pleased to find the rounds I'm working now are a lot less tricky than I found the centre to be......
Autumn colour appearing in my little Japanese Maple tree.........
The golden flowers of my Rudbeckia plant...........
Sedums glowing pink in the early morning sunshine.............
I loved the colours and shape of this unknown plant...........
We also visited an exhibition of charming paintings by THIS talented artist. I loved this colourful mixed media picture.........
Aren't beautiful colours the most wonderful, calming and uplifting thing.

I definitely agree, colors! Your star mandala has a lovely Autumn feel to it with those colors. What a beautiful painting, thanks for sharing. The flower above that looks like a fairy gown. lol We seem to have the same flowers blooming here at the moment too. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI do love your mandala. Colour soothes calms, but at the same time uplifts one. Weekend joy!
ReplyDeleteA lovely choice of colours for your mandala. I love the way the changing seasons can be so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful pictures, Jacquie, and I love the gorgeous mandala. Enjoy the last of the late summer sunshine. x

ReplyDeleteThe colors are fabulous : of the end of summer, of the flowers of your mandala .... Have a nice week end !
ReplyDeleteYour mandala is looking good - such pretty colours. :) I made mine in to a cushions as I didn't like the idea of covering the middle up with something standing on it!

Such beautiful colours here as always, I especially like that pretty little corner with the postbox and the planter. The mandala is wonderful. Sorry you couldn't sleep, I'm often like that too, it's so frustrating isn't it. I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a coincidence: my Sedum, same as yours, is now in bloom, too! Lovely little plant it is!
ReplyDeleteAnd that mandala is really beautiful, love it!
That star-flower mandala is such a gorgeous and intricate looking pattern. I love the painting of the two blue-tits and the flowers in such lovely soft colours.
ReplyDeleteThose red Royal Mail postboxes remind me of home!
Very striking mandala! Is it your own design - it looks very intricate :)

Seeing the colors around you is delightful...nourishing! Thanks, Jacquie, for taking the time to post. I finally got around to posting some imperfect but somehow encouraging to me photos in the middle of the night last night. My youngest adult daughter and I went out and chased the super moon last week. The beauty around us is is so amazing, isn't it. I want some more crochet time for a colorful shawl I have been slowly working on, but meanwhile I am inspired by admiring your latest make :-) xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqie
ReplyDeleteThe unknown flower is a Datura. Very lovely post!
I made a Starflower Manadala lately and it is waiting for blocking and then become a wall decoration with some other mandalas. Yes, cheerful colors are good for the soul. :)
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, I thought your mandala was mine! I'm currently doing nor two, just working the ladt couple of rows. Aren't they fun? Mine is coming out quite large. I'm wondering about using a smaller hook on another one.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacquie, loving your mandala! The plant is actually an Abutilon, not a Datura as suggested above (see here: http://www.burncoose.co.uk/site/plants.cfm?pl_id=21&fromplants=pl%5Fid%3D18) and can be tender in cooler regions.
ReplyDeleteI love, love it very much.. Thank you to share with us.

Oh Jacquie, your photo of the post box is so typically British!! Our one in our village is a quite rusty and dusty, it needs some yarn bombing to show it some love! Have a wonderful week x
ReplyDeleteHi, the flower is an abutalon, we had them in Africa and as soon as I saw your photo, the memories flooded back :) Love the starflower mandala, there are so many differently varieties around, it is nice to see a 'new' shape (to me of course :) )
ReplyDeletelove the mandala, great colours, and gorgeous colourful pics
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I especially love the composition of the Japanese Maple one...so pretty :) Autumn is starting to squirm it's way in over here in NY as well...glad you are getting some nice warm late summer weather to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI like reading your posts and love this one too, with beautiful colors of the nature and your wonderful mandala!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in your mandala! I am working on the dahlia mandala from zooty owl!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and your mandala is coming along nicely! I find myself surrounded by colour these days, all my Little Man's toys are so bright and colourful! Hoping we can meet up at Yarndale - if it's ok I will drop you an email so we can form a plan!
