The First Warm Day

Hello Lovelies,
how was your weekend? Mine flew by in the blink of an eye.

The weather on Saturday was warm and sunny...really warm! Lunch was salad and jacket potato with cottage cheese.....it has to be THIS farm's cottage cheese....it's so much nicer than any others I've tried.......

As you can see I'm still reading library books about wonderful places to walk.

But this weekend was full of family commitments so no great walking adventures could be embarked upon. Still, there was time for a short solo walk around my usual footpaths.

I love the crocuses in a neighbours garden............

How many times have I showed you lovelies this stile? Quiet a few I'm sure.............

and this path beside the field of Highland cattle..........

It was so sunny and warm the cows were having a rest............

and a little further on the rams had retreated into the shade.............

I saw my first Celandine of the year.........

and it felt so cheery as I wandered along the roadside.........

The daffodils are just starting to bloom............

and it was lovely to be outdoors without a coat...........

The red brick contrasted beautifully with the clear blue sky...........

and the smallest pony was waiting by the gate to say hello...........

Snowdrops are still flowering by the church gate..............

and wild garlic leaves are sprouting in the little patch of woodland behind it.............

welcome back Mr Warm Sun............

Thank you for making the world wake up from it's winter slumber ( and for drying my washing).......

It really was a beautiful day. I even squeezed in another short walk at twilight it was so pleasant.

As the sun set I spotted the first star and made a wish...............

Let me zoom in so you lovelies can see it more clearly..........

It's something I have always done. Like making a wish when you blow out the candles on your birthday cake. Of course you can't tell anybody what your wish is, or it won't come true.
But mine is very simple, always the same, no money or material things are involved.

On Friday it was exactly five years since I started this bloging journey.

Happy birthday dear blog.............

I do hope I will be able to carry on writing and sharing in this space for many more years to come. And I hope you wont mind if I repeat myself sometimes.

Thank you for all your many thousands of wonderful comments over the years.

  2. It was a lovely day here in the West Midlands too. I spent Saturday afternoon sitting in my arbour watching the birds and listing all the gardening jobs to be done. I have been having that cottage cheese for about a year now from my local store. It is not watery at all but thick and creamy. They now do a version with chives. I love your photographs. Congratulatons on your anniversary and long may you continue. Alison

  15. Here's to many-many more years!!! (I agree with CJ. ) Our weekend was warm too, with the daffodils starting to bloom again after all that snow, I'm still not sure if all of them will bounce back but I'll enjoy the ones that do. I did some weeding in the flowers and actually got a bit hot, love it! Our bees were busy gathering pollen from somewhere. I would had loved to have hung out wash too (love the scent of lined dried laundry) but the hubby was burning a couple of brush piles. Spring is s-o close yay! Enjoy the day! x

  22. I've told you before how much I love your walks. I've even looked for a walking group in my area but the closest thing I can find is a good hours drive away & they do more back mountain hiking than walks - I'm not quite fit enough for that sadly.

So, I take my little neighborhood walks alone like the one you shared here. I never tire of reading about them & love seeing the beauty in your neighborhood.

  28. Congratulations to you on your fifth blogging anniversay. Do you know ... I actually don't remember when I actually began writing a blog. It all had to do with some sort of Country Living Magazine site.

I'm so glad to have had that initial push!

I'm also very glad to be able to see your part of the UK countryside through your eyes. Spring is a time to celebrate. I particularly loved the photo of the cow resting in the warming sunshine.
