Hello Lovelies,
here I am again, looking back through this weeks photos and smiling at the sweet, simple things that have made me happy.
1. Pastry stars.
Along with hearts, stars are another shape I adore. The boys popped into the kitchen and helped with making the first mince pies of 2013.........
ready made pastry and jar of mincemeat....dead easy :0)
Well, it's only a month till Christmas so I couldn't resist producing one of my favourite seasonal foods..........
they may not be made from scratch but they still taste so much nicer than the bought version and made the kitchen smell lovely.
2. Quiet drawing.
Yesterday I took my inspiration books up to youngest's bedroom as it's cosy, quiet and gets good light. I'm enjoying sketching out another Autumnal picture.........
Just the colouring in to do now....my favourite bit.
3.Old Buildings
Because this Autumn has been blessed with many bright interludes the different light cast by the suns low angle seems more noticeable to me. I love the long shadows even at 1pm.........
After I left the park on Wednesday I wandered round the town. This building is a favourite of mine. It's a bank, built in 1885 . I love the huge chimneys and the attic windows , the details on the brickwork and the pointed tower over the door........
All summer it's in shadow at this time of day so I was thrilled to see it looking extra beautiful in the November sunshine.
4. Little squares of yummy yarn.
My scarf is growing and I'm loving working on this simple, portable project.........
it's such a great colour fix.
All in all , it's been a very happy week.
Enjoy your Sunday lovelies.Jacquie x
I think your week looks as if it has been pretty. X x
ReplyDeleteYour scarf looks bright and cosy!!!
ReplyDeleteXxxxxxx Ale
Look at your gorgeous scarf! It's going to be such a joy to wear. I'm still plodding along with my turquoise one and yearning to add another colour!
ReplyDeleteIt's grey and murky here today so I'm holing up in my comfies. Winter is so much easier to bear when the sun shines, isn't it?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'm tickled pink you love the calendar!
Hxx
Your mince pies look scrummy Jacquie, my mum used to always make them from scratch, but I say keep life light and easy! Your scarf is going to turn out a real treat and cheerful for the grey days. I did some simple shape drawing and painting yesterday for our Christmas cards, no where near as good as your drawing, but it made me think of you xox Penny
ReplyDeleteI must admit I'm not a mince pie fan but I do so love the ritual of baking them (yes usually with a jar of ready made!) - the smell is just lovely! Your scarf is looking fab - I've been quite addicted to the join as you go method with the two round grannies lately - for someone with a very short patience span like me it's ideal as it changes all the time! Thanks so much for your lovely comments about my 'wares' - have a lovely cosy week x Jane
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your scarf when it is finished. It looks so colourful.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty scarf! Mince pies - one of my favourites, and Christmas pudding! :)
ReplyDeleteCrochet and baked treats - the makings of a fine week indeed! The scarf is fab, I love the colours! Ans we've been enjoying the bright autumn sun down here in the South Downs as well, long may they last! Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteI love making my own mince pies - with little star tops too! My baking cupboard is filled with jars of *store-bought* mince for the season. Like you said - even though not totally made from scratch they still taste better than the ones for the store! Your scarf is looking fab!
ReplyDeleteI love to sea your pies, they are lovely, and your last photos it is magnifique, such armony and craft together :)
ReplyDeleteI just came from a fair in my town if you like just make me a visit it will be nice to have you.
Hugs with love

Mince pies yum...and look forward to seeing you drawing...
ReplyDeleteA lovely post Jacquie. I am taking it as permission to start making mince pies as well. Beautiful colours in your scarf, I'm very impressed with your rapid progress. I've started crocheting something and it's growing VERY slowly. Just read your lovely post on how to take blog photos - some really great tips, thank you. Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteAww lovely happies, those mince pies remind me so much of the ones my Mum used to make always with a star on the top, look forward to seeing your drawing.

ReplyDeleteYour week sounds so lovely. I am looking forward to see your scarf finished.

Jacquie, I enjoyed every bit of this post. How great that you could see, and take a photo, of that bank building when the sunlight was favorable. Right time, right place! It's a lovely building and that chimney is a classic.
ReplyDeleteMince pies are not easy to come by over here in NYC. Some very pricey shops do import them from over your way, or make their own (even more pricey.) I think that this year I might take a hint from you and find a jar of acceptable mincemeat, and just make my own little pies.
Note to self...find some little pie tins. Hoping they aren't too hard to find!
Soooo cold here today...below freezing all day. Not even December yet.
xo
All lovely happies! Your scarf is looking great, it looks as though it will be very warm and snuggly! xx
ReplyDeleteThose stars are so cute. What a delightful looking treat! :) Looking forward to seeing how the scarf turns out!

Nothing wrong with ready made pastry especially for a busy mum. You've given me an idea for this year. My girls are all grown, but I'm feeling lazy this year.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your drawings.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a lovely week.. Hope this next one will be even better :)
ReplyDeleteoh i do love Molly Brett, her lovely creatures!...great inspiration. mmmm those mince pies look very special x

ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity of your scarf, stunning, those mince pies look so yummy :) Isnt it wonderful to see blue skies, xxx
ReplyDeleteJacqui - I was hoping to send you a Christmas card - can you drop me an email? Sara x
ReplyDeleteI just love the photo of the bike!
ReplyDeleteGosh I almost missed this post and a lot of enjoyment - I admire how you take time to really 'SEE' things Jacquie - like the beautiful building without its usual shadows and the bike with its image, and of course your lovely sketch - I love the Beatrix Potter style drawing/painting. Those fruit mince pies look delicious and lovely for your boys to give a hand in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteHappy days to you and yours, hugs, Joy xo
Your November shadows are lovely, it makes me wonder if I pass my week without really seeing things. I don't carry my camera around with me, perhaps I should stop for a few moments during my busy day and simply look :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqui, I hope you don't mind me asking this on the comments... I love your blog and especially love the Simply Sail Away tutorial. Lots of the boys in the family are very happy owners of this wall hanging - thank you for producing a more boyish crochet pattern! A friend has asked me to make her 2 hangings and pay me for them - I wanted to check that it's ok for me to sell items made from your pattern? Obviously I will understand if you'd rather I didn't :-) my FB page is vickerypokery and I credit you as the designer on the finished articles. Thank you for your time! Vicky xx
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky, thanks for your lovely comment. I'm so glad you had fun with this pattern. I'm happy for you to sell items made from my patterns.
