Maybe .......

Hello Lovelies , how are you ?
I've been a bit blurgh the last couple of days . Nothing serious , but I'm sure the return to freezing weather , and grey days haven't helped things. It's a good job I've got some sunshine in a vase on my coffee table ....

Some colourful yarn to play with........

And a teensy bit of retail therapy :0)............
I'm not sure what came over me but I splurged on this today..........

A cute little dolls bed. It was sat at the back of the charity shop and didn't have a price .....so I enquired and the lady said "would a pound be OK?" Welllll , I couldn't really say no , could I .

I don't have any little girls of my own and I don't know any , young enough to play with this , but I'm thinking I might make it a pretty quilt ( I'm longing to try patchwork again ) or a little granny stripe , yes , that would be cute . I might paint it , or stencil it .
Maybe 2011 might be the year I take the plunge and have a craft stall , near Christmas , Maybe someone would buy it if it was looking all pretty with a little mattress, pillow and blanket..........maybe.......................?????????? So many possibilities.
Have a great weekend , see you Sunday for the draw .

  5. Lovely, sunny daffs :)
The dolls bed is really cute and it looks big enough to hold a few magazines by the bed? I am obsessed with things that hold mags atm as I have so many flying around the place!

  15. Hi Jacquie! Of course you couldn't say no - you can make so many things with that tiny bed! Emma's idea for magazines is great, I was thinking also books or you can keep your yarn basket on it - after you have paint it and decorate it. Or just make it perfect doll bed with small quilt and pillow and I'm sure some one lucky girl would love to have it!
Lovely and sunny weekend to you!

  16. What a lovely bed - great find!
I think I've got the exact same yarn as you - is it a Sirdar one? I'm making a 'springtime throw' for my sitting room (it might not be ready until next spring, but hey, I'm enjoying making it!)

  18. My friend has a bed similar to that... a bit more froo-froo-ish... and she made it up for her cutie pie pooch... lol. The possibilities are endless with miniature furniture!

  19. ....or you could indulge yourself and make 20 or so mini quilts, throws and crochet blankets and do the bed up "Princess and the Pea" stylee. I too have 3 boys and I've found since the newest boy arrived (9 days ago) I have become so much more feminine, I eel the need to girlify everything in sight! Am I going to become a characature or will I go back to normal?! xxx

  20. What a perfect little find Jacquie. I just saw one of these used by a photographer for a new born baby photo session. The baby was sleeping in the little bed with a lovely crocheted hat on. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I am sure it will be a "first to sell" at a craft fair once you are through decorating it.

  21. I think that would be a perfect ppurtunity to try a stall, and make more things like this! Maybe a little stool, painted and with a crocheted pillow?

  22. Hey Jacquie, I do hope you're feeling tip top ASAP, but those Daffs would definitely brighten up a gloomy, grey day.
Can't wait to see what you whip up for the sweet as little bed. I can m\just picture it displayed at your craft stall with it's little patchwork quilt. Hmmm, might have to keep my eye out for one........
    Sending sunny wishes from Oz,

  23. Hi Jacquie, Anne here again. I suddenly had a thought in the middle of the night (as you do) of a doll's cradle makeover on a blog I follow in the U.S. I'm sure you have fantastic ideas on what to do, but you might be interested in what she has done. Here is the link http://www.freckledlaundry.com/2010/12/pottery-barn-cradle-white-out-project-2.html. Jami is a talented lady as you will see. I emailed her for the link as I couldn't remember from what month she posted the makeover and she is very interested in seeing what you decide to do with your little bed. So am I. :)
    Have a great day,
    Anne xx

  24. Those daffs are lovely - just the thing to brighten up a grey day (there have been lots of those here as well). The dolls bed was such a bargain - no wonder you couldn't resist! Really looking forward to see what you do with it - a mini crochet blanket sounds like just the ticket! :o) xx

  25. The doll bed is so wonderful. You should definitely make up a quilt or crochet a blanket for it. I actually did this for someone who made similar beds long ago. I made a very old fashioned basic quilt/mattress bottom...the kind where you just make a top and bottom filled with fiberfill and pull the yarn through in a few spots and tie with knots, then crocheted a mini granny for the top of the bed. There's always a little girl out there somewhere just waiting for this. It will provide a lifetime of memories and you will have such joy in making it all.

  26. What a sweet little bed and what a bargain it was. There are so many lovely patterns out there for patchwork doll quilts and of course you'd need to do a crochet one as well!
    The daffodils are so pretty.

  27. It's crying out to be loved that little bed, now you have it I'm sure in no time it will look stunning and yes maybe you can sell it on your craft store, one day! I'm the same by the way, maybe I'll get a craft website up and running and sell loads of things I make!!! LOL! Yeh WHEN and MAYBE. Ahh we can dream.
