Hello Lovelies,
as we head into the long school holidays I've been think about this old blog of mine, and especially how much screen time me and my family enjoy....it's a lot. More than I'm comfortable with really.
I love recording and sharing here so much , but I also want to live in the moment this summer.
But equally I want to be a role model to my boys. How can I ask them to ease off on the technology when I'm so hooked up to it myself.
So I came up with a plan........I'm just going to write very short, sweet posts........a few photo's and fewer words.
Things will return to normal in the Autumn I'm sure.
This first one is just to share the beautiful butterflies that have been covering my Buddleia bush this week....aren't they wonderful.......
I had a go at painting one in watercolour , using the photo above. I think it turned out O.K.........
and it was lovely working with all the beautiful colours.
More moments coming soon.

Love the butterflys and your wonderful watercolour. Short posts are good for the soul sometimes and I like how it is a record of my life these days. I may be gone for more than a week but I lurk all over the place ☺☺
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. Lovely as it is, Blogging can take up a lot of time and energy sometimes. I think you're idea about short sweet posts is just right. X
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, there are other things to do too, so short sweets posts are the thing!

There's so much to enjoy in the summer, short posts are a great idea. The buddleia is looking wonderful, lucky you having so many butterflies. I hope you all have a lovely weekend, CJ xx
ReplyDeleteSounds dangerously like a plan......! Your watercolour is just gorgeous and I'm most envious of your talent.
ReplyDeleteI think your painting worked out very well Jacquie, it's really lovely! I love butterflies and am so happy to see yours thank you, and also think that short posts to allow you more time with family during the summer time is a very good idea:) Have a fun weekend and holiday time! xoJoy
ReplyDeleteI hear you Jacquie! I often have to get up really early to update my blog and even then I don't manage to keep up with everything. Small soundbites are a good idea and I resorted to exactly that at the start of this week. Glorious colour of the buddleia - we've got soooo many Peacock butterflies around at the moment. Enjoy your Summer. Susie x
ReplyDeleteI completely understand where you are coming from Jacqui and will enjoy your summer moments posts over the next few weeks but hope they go back to normal in the Autumn
ReplyDeleteI think your painting turned out well

Such lovely butterfly shots on your butterfly bush! I'm simplifying blog entries too during the months of July and August and having fun in the process. Have a wonderful weekend with your family.
ReplyDeleteI'd say your painting is much more than ok, it's amazing! And so are your photos, I always enjoy looking at butterflies and trying to photograph them... Have a nice weekend! : )
ReplyDeleteYour photos of the butterflies are amazing. You capture them so well. I think you've chosen the best of both worlds re your blog. Family always comes first for me but there also has to be some 'me' time. So reducing your blog posts rather than suspending them is, I think, a good decision. Enjoy the school holidays, x
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! The watercolor too. Have a wonderful summer, and we'll see you when we see you! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, I am all for leading by example. You have captured the butterflies wonderfully and your water colour is a delight.
ReplyDeleteI love that Peacock butterfly,,, looks like a cats face.
ReplyDeleteJacquie, I like your approach to summertime blogging very much. You live in a beautiful part of the world, and are very kind to share it with the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteBoth your photographs and painting of that magnificent butterfly are terrific. xo
Have a lovely summer holiday with your family xx
ReplyDeleteAlways lovely to share your moments, but I know what you mean- the technology can take over at times. Beautiful butterfly photos! Have a lovely Summer- it is so important to be immersed in each moment, especially as the children grow up so fast.xx
ReplyDeleteI am new to crocheting and found your blog via Lucy @ Attic 24. I LOVE all the pictures you post of your walks and outings. I've gotten my Mom hooked on your blog and now we are both longing to go to the English countryside. We live in Canada, in a rural area. Whatever you post and whenever you post I'll be here gladly reading and viewing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer holidays. I can't believe ours are almost half over :(
Your painting of the buterrfly is really great. I think your idea about short posts will work very well and is a good example.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer and family. I'll be here when you get back.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have lots of lovely times with your boys over the summer.
ReplyDeleteThere are more butterflies than I've seen for years about at the moment. I don't know whether that's because there really are so many more, or because I've slowed down enough to see them!
ReplyDeleteThe painting is beautiful, I love the colours.
Lovely - all of it :) photos and sentiment , here's to beautiful moments x
ReplyDeleteWonderful job on the watercolor painting! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the summer. Love the butterflies x
ReplyDeleteI think truth be told, although we bloggers obviously enjoy the technology we have so easily to hand now, we all feel a little guilty at how much time we devote to it. We need things like family, good weather and holidays to make us realise that we need to live and enjoy the life we like to write about. So enjoy your Summer, share those snippets as we will with you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterflies!!!! Love the little Tortoiseshell!!!! Hope you enjoy every little moment of your summer with your family!!!! Have a happy week!!!!

I hope that you have a wonderful less tech summer and I look forward to your short and sweet posts, if they are as beautiful as this one with your lovely painting they will be a great delight! xx
ReplyDeleteYes indeed...I spend too much time on the laptop. Beautiful photos and watercolour.........hope you have a great summer.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are absolutely gorgeous. Such detail on those butterfly wings. Lovely. I do like your watercolour. Mine are lying in the conservatory, I'm a beginner & I think it;s just nerves. Haven't picked them up since I did a cruise last November. Might just have a go again after seeing your lovely butterfly.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I love reading your blog I understand the importance of family time. Enjoy your summer!
