January Crochet Intentions

Hello Lovelies,
we enjoyed a lovely sunny day here on Friday . It was sooooooo welcome after all the rain and gales we had earlier in the week.
Walking into my bedroom in the afternoon I was very happy to see the low sun shining in my ever growing piles of hexagons. You know , the ones for my Kaleidoscope hexagon blanket .Started way back in April last year :0)

I imediately got my camera and captured them to share with you lovelies..........

I love the way the late afternoon ( 3pm !! ) sun made the colours glow ........

And I'm announcing here  my intention to FINISH THIS BLANKET THIS MONTH in the hope that it will spur me on .
I think this is one of the slowest blankets I've ever made . The motifs are relatively fiddely to do so I've been making them in a production line style . 100 hexagons , to add to the few I've already joined. This was taken last May and it's still pretty much unaltered..........

But now I'm completing the hexagons, 60 so far, I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel......

As you can tell I'm being good and sewing in the ends as I go . So wish me luck as there is still quite a bit to do. I've still got 40 hexagons to compleat. Then there's adding the final, joining, round then sewing in those ends and thinking about a border.

Don't forget there are two tutorials for this pattern in my side bar.

Thank you for all the lovely things you said about last years crochet.Your encouragement is wonderful , especially for big projects like this :0)
Hope your week goes well.
Jacquie x

  7. The sunshine on Friday was so lovely to see, wasn't it? It inspired me to run outdoors instead of going to the gym. Are you still running? Any New Year intentions to run a marathon?!
The hexagons are lovely, I hope your willpower holds out and you finish it soon!

  8. It's going to be so lovely when it's finished. I'm definitely weaving in the ends as I go in future. It took me 2 days to tidy up my last one. Nearly lost the will to live!

  10. Isn't funny how announcing deadlines to other people, even virtual ones like us readers, spurs you on. In the autumn I emailed a friend a list of things I was going to achieve in 6 weeks and was amazed at how much I did! I think it was the thought that someone would ask.

I have to tell you that my mom got inspired by your pattern, and is just finishing a blanket (med. size) in autumn colors. I will post it in my blog as soon as it is finished, and will send you a picture. I hope this will cheer you for the last leg of the race in your blanket. Greetings.

  20. I have noticed these kind of crochet pieces can take forever and a lot of patience to get through, especially with different colour detail in them. Though blankets seem to take A WHILE to do....just gotta keep pushing through he he

  40. You know Jacquie, I think this will be one of the most prettiest blankets around when it is finished! The colour combinations are visually stunning. It's a hard slog sometimes isn't it with a blanket......but knowing that it will be a complete and utter stunner will be worth every effort on it!

    Have a super day!

  41. Jacquie, those are so, so beautiful. The colors, wow!!! Every time I see your progress on this project, I just want to ditch everything I'm working on and start a hexie blanket just like it. I am anticipating a hugely gorgeous Ta-Dah when you're finished. :)

  43. These are lovely! I'm trying to make a bag with motifs right now and I feel your pain! I'm not use to having to change yarns so much and having to fasten off and weave in all the time. It makes finishing projects like this so hard sometimes, but boy is it worth it when they are done!! I just have to remind myself that its going to look great in the end. I love the colors you are using and I'm sure it will be wonderful when you are done!
