Drawing.....More Spring things :0)

Hello Lovelies,
The cold weather and lucking germs may have put paid to lots of outdoor things I had in mind for last week, but staying warm and cosy at home is no real hardship is it.
In fact it gave me lots of blogging and drawing time.

As you can see I've been drawing spring things again......what better to do on a cold dark February day than transport your imagination to Spring and sunshine.

Days when the trees are a mass of fluffy pink blossom and new born lambs are in the fields.......

My little version of Tom Tit may not be as true to life as Molly's but I think he's pretty cute and somehow, accidentally he's ended up as a sort of Mascot :0)

There's a light breeze, perfect for drying washing on the line or ploughing a straight furrows..........

Hens are searching for a tasty worm or two........

and Daffodils , Primroses and purple Crocuses are at their beautiful best..........

I had so much fun  with this picture....can you tell ? :0)

Every work day I drive past a farm gate where they sell eggs from a little table. There is an honesty box for you to pay and you can see the hens close by enjoying the fresh air. I sometimes stop and buy some. They are tasty and very local !

who knew egg boxes are so tricky to draw :0)

I didn't take a photo of the scene before I drew this  picture. It's similar to this but I didn't try and make it accurate...rather just an inspiration .
Mum gave me some tips, like giving things a shadow......" anchors them to the ground, otherwise they can look like they are floating in mid air " thanks Mum.
There are bits of it I'm happier with than others , but all in all I still love it and loved drawing it.That's  what a hobby is all about, right ?

  1. Jacquie, I'm really enjoying your sketching and drawing journey. I had to laugh at your Mum's advice to give things shadows to anchor them. It reminded me of the first oil painting I did which was of Scottish scenery. There were some delightful outcrops of white rocks in the field and they floated beautifully until my teacher showed me what to do anchor them. It's all those little tips that help make our art work how we want it to look. Keep going, keep on having fun.

  2. What fun you're having with your drawings and I love the happy atmosphere they evoke! How nice that your mum is giving you some good tips too! It almost makes me want to take up drawing again...! I always get encouraged when I read about that wonderful artist who was called Grandma Moses. This wonderful lady turned to painting in her seventies and became famous in her eighties! So I still have a little time! Maybe I need to retire first though to have more time!

  4. Hi Jacquie, I love your Spring drawings and can see the pleasure that they are giving you. I am planning to write a blog tomorrow thanking you for your inspiration... I have 'used' your drawing as a base for my 'Autumn' one and am hoping you don't mind. I badly needed to be inspired and just wasn't getting anywhere so am very grateful. Happy painting! Mrs A

  5. I love your pictures, they are soothing, just like children's storybooks. I love all the detail in your farm pic, the way the washing is blowing and the cheeky hen on the gate. The red tractor and the way the path to the table is worn from all the customer's feet. Those egg boxes are very cute too. :) xx

  6. Beautiful drawing, I like it, nice details and colors! My daughter (12 years old) often makes drawings and since some weeks paintings too, in my last blog I showed her first painting. I want I should be able to make things like you or her! :-)

  7. I noticed the use of shadows immediately. :) For instance - the washing looks very real. Is the hen hiding in a dog's house?

  13. These are just lovely Jacquie! I love the way you've done the fences and you can tell Spring is coming to your part of the world. Derwent pencils were my absolute favourite pencils growing up. And yes I agree, this is what hobbies are all about - the simple enjoyment of doing them :-)
